Viewtiful Joe is currently one of Capcom's most highly anticipated video game titles of the year. It looks to be a smash hit and I personally can't wait for it to come out. But that's not what this thread is about. At least not entirely...
No, what this thread is about is that in Japan there is actually (get this) Viewtiful Joe: THE PRO WRESTLER! Yes, there is some guy in Japan currently using Viewtiful Joe as his gimmick.
I know there are Wieners out there who follow wrestling in Japan. This whole thing intrigues me. Can anyone tell me more about Viewtiful Joe: the wrestler?
Ok, so maybe all the other guys haven't worked, but will THIS be the man to save WWE???
This wouldn't be the first time a wrestler's taken his gimmick from video games. For a while there were wrestlers going by Wolf Hawkfield and whatever-the-other-dude's-name-is from Virtua Fighter.
It sounds pretty bizarre, but they put squid ink on pizza and serve capuccino in little cans from vending machines. So it doesn't really surprise me...

That's for sure. Wasn't the whole "Blood Runs Cold" concept WcW was trying (and failed it) trying for the Mortal Combat thing? Mortis and Wrath were, for the most part, designed on that Game, I think.

That's where Glacier comes in, unless I'm very much mistaken.
Hey dont forget comics too, If it wasnt for the big green guy we wouldnt have the red and yellow, speaking of the hulk, i just broke out my old hulk comics for shits and giggles, and this was my favorite comic, it was with the hulk confronting this balding blonde guy in red n yellow tights for stealing his name, the hulk leaps into the ring a begins to beat the crap out of hogan lol, it ends with him tossing hogan into the air, then it cuts to a guy watching the whole thing on tv, and he's like, i wonder where hes gonna land, and then hogan comes crashing through his roof crushing his tv, yeah that was some funny stuff, oh and rey did for a bit in wcw was wearing red and blue tights with spiderwebs on them too
It's just too bad that they're only now starting to pick up on the video game stuff for character ideas. As a kid, I think I would have had fond memories of, say... "Pac-Man" Dusty Rhodes.

WWE could always pick up on similar ideas.
Triple H resembles the warrior from "Gauntlet"
When it comes time to end the FBI experiment, you could always repackage them by dressing them up in plumber suits.
Repackage Crash Holly as Crash Bandicoot and have him wrestle in that bandicoot costume used in the Crash Bandicoot commercials. That's COMEDY GOLD!
And, of course...
A-Train = Donkey Kong

Wolf Hawkfield was Jim Steele, who is now Michael Barton's tag team partner in New Japan.
Heat (Minoru Tanaka) was also from a video game. It's a natural progression from taking characters from manga (comics) and anime (cartoons) where we got Tiger Mask (Satoru Sayama, Mitsuharu Misawa, Koji Kanemoto, TM IV) and Jushin "Thunder" Lyger (Keichii Yamada)
As the days go by, we face the increasing inevitability that we are alone in a godless, uninhabited, hostile and meaningless universe. Still, you've got to laugh, haven't you?
Neither can I, pal. Still, as soon as those words rolled outta Raven's mouth, I couldn't help but think of this audience participation line from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show": "This better be good, you got shot last week!
