I caught a Victoria match tonight on Heat for the first time in awhile. It seems like she was the hottest woman on the roster for part of this year, but has slipped significantly in recent months. But I still think she's one of their best, in terms of both character and ring work.
Can/will she re-emerge as a top player in the next six months?
Maybe getting attacked by Molly tonight was the first step in a face turn. (Unless there were previous steps that I missed). If they find a way to turn Trish heel, I think a heel Trish - face Victoria feud could work well. You have two women with somewhat stale characters but proven abilities to get over and work good matches. I think Victoria would need to part with Richards to pull off the face thing, but I think she's got such a badass look and style that fans could get behind her.
Well, I'm still holding out hope that they swerve Jericho by having Trish turn on him and join Christian.
But as for Victoria, I'd love to see her as a face, and even with the current gimmick. Oddly enough, I think that with a little tweaking, they could get both Steven Richards (GM of Heat/CEO of StevieCorp.) and herself over as wacky faces.
Hopefully, when Jazz returns (aligned with Teddy Long, I hope) they can run a top-level program with Jazz and Victoria. I'd dig a Benoit-Booker-esque Best-of-Seven Series between the two.
They were testing out Steven and Victoria as faces on the house shows against Rico and Miss Jackie. Apparently, Victoria especially had no trouble getting over as a face on the house shows. She's got lots of cool recognizable spots and mannerisms which are a must for a face plus she's unique and hot as hell.
I hope they do a more substantial turn then what they did on Heat tonight with Molly beating down Victoria and Steven upsetting Test.
I'd like to see a run of Molly/Victoria matches for the Women's Title. They'd be a lot better then those Molly/Lita matches and fresher then Trish and everyone.
Another note from Heat, I'm really starting to dig Venis and Storm as a team. They compliment each other pretty well in the ring. Venis can bring the power offense while Storm can fly all over the place now that he's a face. They just need better character development.
Seriously, part and parcel of the Val Venis gimmick is porn jokes. The fact that they have gone as far as to say that Lance and Val are "co-workers" in the Adult Film Biz at least gives them some semblance of a gimmick and a reason for teaming. I am a firm believer that tag teams need Unifiers in their booking.
Oh yeah...I just saw the Victoria match. Molly is working the heel magic, and looking very Bret Hart-ish. All she needs to do is channel her inner Benoit and call herself the best technical wrestler in Women's Wrestling. Victoria and Jazz can just challenge that hypothesis, and we have a wrestling-based feud in the Women's division to go along with the SE-based one featuring Trish and Lita. And that should be enough to get Victoria to turn the corner to face-dom.
I think Victoria is very talented, I think with the exception of Lesner and *maybe* Cena she made the transition from OVW to WWE better then anyone other graduates. Very good in ring & I think she can turn face in an easy manner with her character. I'd love to see Victoria getting a solid face run... Lita is probably going to get her run in, but I just can't stand her. She had a great first month, looked motivated & taking it seriously. But now it's back to her lazy old ways with awful basics & bad moves. She just seems like someone who's happy with her pops & don't really care about her performance which really stand out with the Raw girls who all seem to take so much pride in what they do. The easy choice is to push Lita, but hey they took a chance 2 years ago with Trish and it was a great choice for the division as a whole, I'm hoping they take another chance and let Victoria run with the ball.
On Heat I totally marked out for Richards defeating Test, it was a shocker.
I agree with you Fuel, I also starting to enjoy Val and Storm's team work, in ring they compliment each other really well with the contrast of their styles. But for me this gimmick of theirs is just not working out, it's just very tired on Val's part and it's really not fitting Storm at all... I usually don't like to complain without a solution but I'm stumped on this one. I don't really know what you can do with both of them at this time for it to be better. Hey I might be in the minority but I really liked Chief Morley, much better then what he was doing now. As for Storm ahhh what could have been with him and Goldust will be on my mind for a while.
Seeing that it's mostly Heat talk here, gotta say that Snow has been a bit of a disappointment in color. I know the B-shows need to be a little more goofier and not taken as serious in commentating because the matches aren't as important as the A-shows. But Coach/Snow go a little too off on that direction during the show, I don't mind the announcers being light hearted (heck I still think Josh/Tazz best PBP combo of the year)but I think Coach/Snow take it too much in that direction... But gotta say Snow line on Coach's arm injury by saying "Your sexual opportunities have been cut in half" was damn funny!

The problem with the Val Venis gimmick is that there is no longevity to it, and people can't take it seriously. Steve Austin, The Rock and others have characteristics that are extensions of themselves. Seems like whoever gave Morley the gimmick (*coughRussocough*) didn't plan for the long term. Now he's stuck with the gimmick that people associate with him, with no recourse.
I'm not that keen on Victoria turning face. How many heels does that leave in the women's division now? By my reckoning, there's Molly and Gail Kim. The division could do with another strong heel, unless Trish eventually turns, and I'm sceptical about that. It's a shame Vince can't pick up the phone and give Aja Kong a call anymore, someone like her would be ideal.
You forgot about Jazz...(not to mention Miss Jackie)
Technically, Ivory and Jacqueline are faces, but they are more like "not heels," because they don't muster much of a crowd response either way. It would really behoove them to make them wrestler/valets, as a way of at least giving them character development time. (I know Jacqueline is a wrestler/referee; perhaps they could go somewhere with THAT gimmick.)
Ideally, with a division as small as the WWE Women's Division, every wrestler should have some type of "hook," a reason for fans to care. At this point, Ivory and Jacqueline are mere fodder, taking up space and nothing more. The E needs to change that.
And as for Victoria & Richards, I'm hoping the WWE "braintrust" is comfortable with pushing the tandem. Too bad there's no Midajah around to pair with Scott Steiner...
I would be all for making Victoria and Richards faces. You could have the natural feud with Jazz, and even if they decide to swerve everyone in this Trish-Jericho storyline by having Trish turn heel instead of the other way around -- you have another matchup that seems kind of fresh.

Now you're coming around to my way of thinking (see Post #2)...
This cracked me up. I'm a big fan of Paul Kariya, and was only half paying attention then turned around going WTF and wondered why he would say that. Of course...it would be more relevant if Kariya still played in Nashville and not in St. Louis by now....
