This one felt like a good episode that was about to wrap up with an amazing ending, before it suddenly just...ended. Yeah, that was an abrupt finish, but it still doesn't take away too much from the obsessed Monarch and his awesome minions. Sgt. Hatred had some good moments, especially the one where he pelted Dr. Venture with a rubber bullet, but the character has a creepy vibe, overall. Pedophilia NEVER equals funny.
An overall thumbs in the middle from me. I'm also more than intrigued about this supposed one night fling that Dr. Venture had with Dr. Girlfriend, though this isn't the first time they've alluded to that.
SHIRT OF THE WEEK: This week's shirt is the Sgt. Hatred shirt, which has a nice, simple logo emblazoned on the front of a green shirt. Looks good.
I think this is my favorite episode of the new season. There were a lot of good visual gags, like Hatred's tattoo, but overall what I really liked was seeing the conflict with the Monarch having to settle down into a Guild-approved lifestyle. And I loved the big reveal on Hatred's master plan.
This wasn't quite as bad as critics would have you think. The story's mystery is actually pretty good. The movie is dark and surprisingly violent, but it's funny when it needs to be. As you might expect, Gary Oldman rules your world, and mine too.
