Is there no RAW icon?
Well, time for my yearly post, and this time it concerns the BRAND NEW promo for Vengeance on June 25. Now I've barely glanced at Raw since 24 started, but this looks like a winner, baby! I would buy this PPV! And I haven't bought one since the Survivor Series screw-job in '98... Oh WWE, why do you tease me with being good again???

Enjoy!!! (youtube.com)

Upon seeing this, I had two very disparate thoughts on the reunion.

1) DX, when they were "on", were probably the most entertaining thing going. They weren't always on, of course, but that's beside the point.

2) This smacks of a midlife crisis. Two guys dipping back into their youth as they more or less hit middle age. If HHH and HBK show up in a red camaro, we'll know why.

Despite thought #2, I'm actually very interested to see what they do with the angle, which means it's done its job -- I haven't watched WWE in quite some time now, and really just check in on things by popping by the W.

This isn't Hunter and Shawn arbitrarily deciding to bring back DX. This is one of the few organic things to happen this year. The crowd got behind the idea and began popping big-time for it, and creative decided to run with it.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow

Yeah, not only is the crowd popping big time, but I love how they keep teasing and teasing, last night for example, "I Got Two Words for ya" got the biggest pop of the night. Then when HHH took out the SS, how many of us was just waiting for him to do the crotch chop?

They had Michaels and HHH plant the seeds with the repeated gestures they made in their respective matches at Wrestlemania. Sure, it was subtle, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was completely organic and there were no plans for it until the crowd started popping for unplanned crotch chops.

Edit - fixed for grammar.

Michaels did a crotch chop to a big reaction, and Hunter repeated it later in the night after seeing the pop it got. Or so the story goes. Either way, it's not like they're pushing this down the fans' throats.

Also, The first DX (ne Triple Threat) focused on pissing off Vince, even in how they settled Shawn's simultaneous world/Euro reigns. This new version would appear to be formed to repeat that, and that's a better reason than, say, joining to fight an enraged Big Show.

Although, that would still make it yet another RAW GM vs _____ angle.

What actually ended up happening with the "FREE BLOWJOBS" PPV taping? No one (Observer, Torch, etc.) has said anything but it seemed like they all at least mentioned it the week before it was supposed to happen? Just wondering.
