Can you *believe* that Sky want us in the UK to pay 14 (~$20, I think) to watch Vengeance? What is the world coming to?

In case anyone doesn't know, we used to get all the PPV's for free on Sky TV until Channel 4 bought the rights to the Royal Rumble and 3 more PPVs, as well as Heat. They brilliantly put Heat on mid-afternoon, to be shocked to find that the programme contained simulated violence. So they bumped it to midnight, never spoke of it again and let the contract lapse. They also demanded editing rights for the PPV's after the "Mae Young Incident" and editted Trish going through a table and X-Pac having his forehead removed by Christian at Backlash 2000 despite the fact it was shown at 2am in the morning. Since Sky got pretty pissed over the deal in the first place, they haven't purchased the 4 'missing' PPV's and will only show them through the Pay Per View channel.

I wish it cost $20 dollars over here.

Yeah, but that's 14/$20 on top of your basic subscription to Sky (10+) and your subscription to Sky Sports (10+) so to see the months WWE programming you're looking at more like 34 (about $50 ish) when previously it had been only 20 (ish, depending on your supplier). I think A-MOL's point is more to do with the fact that Sky/WWE are squeezing every last penny out of UK fans rather than to compare prices with the US anyway. It's a bit unfair to inflict that sort of a price rise on a consumer with such short notice, which is what happened with this years Royal Rumble.

It's a general progression with UK TV towards everything on PPV, and it stinks. I wonder how long it'll take them to shift the Premiership to exclusively PPV?

I heard some rumor (provided to me by a friend here in Holland) that next year all WWE ppvs will be on PPV
BUT that is a rumor..I bet that once the existing contract expires it will happen though.

I'm not complaining that much, since we got if for the Premiership and the wrestling fandom grew from there. It does blow considering we did get it free and I think will hurt the number of viewers. There are plenty of people who tape it in the middle of the night to watch and a later date who do not care enough to pay the money. The Royal Rumble will hurt because for many casual fans, it is their favourite event.

Plus, I was trolling to get some American flaming me because he has to pay 40 a month ;)

Hurricane just beat Steven Richards with the vertabreaker on Heat and JR called it and everything. It's so great to see it again.
