Picked up this CD last weekend, and I must say I am very impressed. I bought this without even hearing slither, the single they had released already, and I didn't quite no what to expect. The first song on the CD gave me a pretty good indication I was going to love this CD. I would highly recommend it.

For those that don't know Velvet Revolver pretty much equals Guns n'Roses-Axl Rose+Scott Weiland

Thats quite the trade. Scott over Axl anyday, I'll have to check this album out.

Lloyd: When I met Mary, I got that old fashioned romantic feeling, where I'd do anything to bone her.
Harry: That's a special feeling.

I like the album. I hope Scott can keep his head on straight, because I'd like to hear more from them. Slash could play kiddie songs on guitar, and it would still rule. The problems people seem to have with the CD is that they're either expecting brilliant STP or raw hard rocking GnR. It's definately a mix of the two, and a sound that I like, but I can see why some are not impressed. Quit living in the past!

I've heard the live shows are very good, with them mixing GnR songs with STP songs, and then, of course, their own original songs. I'm thinking of using my comp points at the Borgata in Atlantic City towards tickets to see them at the end of the month.

On the other hand, I was rather unimpressed with the CD packaging. I can't play it with Winamp (only from the program in the enhanced CD) because of the copy protection. Putting it in your computer installs software to your computer, and there doesn't seem to be an uninstall option. They also make it damn near impossible to download the CD to an MP3 player. You need one that supports secure .WMV files, and that doesn't include iPods and many many other players (including my own). { Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! }

I NEVER buy CDs, rather I always pick them up, carry them around, and decide that my $13-18 would be better served on something else.

HOWEVER, as a child of the GnR era, I knew I had to buy the Velvet Revolver CD as soon as I saw it, and I can't be happier. I've missed Slash terribly, apparently.

I was very impressed with the album.
The songs have a nice groove, mixing straight rock with a grungy sound.
I read in a local review that the ballads sounded like bad 80s songs, but I like that in this case.
The up-tempo songs simply rock.

I hope this isn't just a project but that they can stay together and produce some more great albums!

And besides missing Slash (the Snakepit was alright though) I also realised I missed Duff's bass sound and his terrible (and thus cool) vocals.

*sigh* Why bother?

Damn, I finally picked up this album. Boy, I'm glad I did. Slash is such a bad motherfucker on guitar. I really hope this band can survive because they give rock n' roll the shot in the ass it needed.

This is on my list of things to pick up.

Of course, I also just bought a brand new GnR shirt...

God Bless Ronald Reagan, and may he rest in peace...

* * * * * * *

For decades, American had waged a Cold War, and few believed it could possibly end in our own lifetimes. The president was one of those few. And it was the vision and the will of Ronald Reagan that gave hope to the oppressed, shamed the oppressors and ended an evil empire . . . Ronald Reagan was more than a historic figure. He was a providential man who came along just when our nation and the world most needed him.

Fellow Americans, here lies a graceful and a gallant man.
- Dick Cheney, 6/9/2004

Reagan had a rare and prized gift called leadership, that ineffable and sometimes magical quality that sets some men and women apart so that millions will follow them as they conjure up grand visions and invite their countrymen to dream big and exciting dreams.-Brian Mulroney, 6/11/2004

So many people are saying VR is "GNR without Axl but with Weiland" but that's not what I hear when I listen to the record. I hear a new Stone Temple Pilots album, just with new players.
I like the album okay, but it's nothing I want to listen to all the time. Most of it sounds like the crappiest STP stuff (Shangri-La-Dee-Da) in my opinion.
And for the record, Weiland looks like an extraterrestrial crack whore in that video.
