Hate to restart a thread that not only had Matt Vasgergian's game show hosting duties (which, by the way, he's hosting the World Series of Blackjack over on GSN), but also had "Subdivisions" in it.
That said, out of the four Chicago announcers worth keeping, only Steve Stone should stay. I'm a White Sox fan, and I can't stand Hawk and D.J. Horrible. When I say I'd rather listen to Ron Santo, that's saying a lot. Hawk wasn't bad when he was with Tom Pacoriek, but it's absolutely horrible now. It's a staccato droning on, or it's a rant.
And D.J.? Complete optomistic goofball. The night of the Sox getting shellacked with their fourth starter in the five slot, D.J. was completely "I think this kid's going to be something special." Yeah, like an ERA of TILT.
Should I start the "Get Vasgergian to the White Sox" petition yet?
Teppan, if you want to feel better about Hawk and DJ, hit the SAP button and check out the new "younger generation" broadcast that FSN Chicago is trying now on the second audio feed. It's like listening to the three drunk frat boys behind you at the game going on for 9 innings, interspersed with random C-list celebrity visits (last night they had Jenny McCarthy visit them). By the end of it you will be RUNNING to the SAP button to get back to hearing "STRETCH" and "HEGONE!" and it will sound like the singing of angels.
I got this from the Boston DirtDogs site. Apparently, there was a little tiff between a Cleveland radio guy and some of the New England beat reporters. Exclusive complete details: "It was beautiful. Both benches emptied in the press box.
