I do this so YOU don't have to...

---Movies---

The Rock doesn't seem to want to get back to the wrestling ring any time soon. He's recently agreed to star in the film version of Marvel Comic's "SUB MARINER'.
Now, I know Namor, and I just have to say that The Rock is NO Namor, The Sub Mariner.

Gary Cole will be reprising his EXCELLENT roll of Sheriff Lucas Buck from the show AMERICAN GOTHIC, in the movie AMERICAN GOTHIC: The Movie. Now THIS is some most EXCELLENT news, as the series was a favorite of mine. After the film, there is supposed to be a second season comming to Sci-Fi.

Who's up for seeing a video of Anthony Hopkins and Paris Hilton? ...NO! not THAT kind of video, you SICKO! Anthony Hopkins is gonna be in the remake of HOUSE OF WAX, along with Paris and Elisha Cuthbert.

I'd like to think that I'm not a racist, but every time I find something like this, I have to ask myself "Why can't black actors and filmmakers come up with their own ideas instead of ruining something some one else has already done." Cedric The Entertainer will be starring in a 'ethnic' remake of Rodney Dangerfield's BACK TO SCHOOL. First Scarface, then Airplane, now this; STOP THE INSANITY!

The next Star Trek film is greenlit. No title, and the script is in the early stages of developement and Rick Berman says he will ONLY be producing it in the way GENE RODENBURY was listed as 'Producer' of Next Generation and DS9. He will have NO actual hands on work with the film. Looks like they are finally going through with that STARFLEET ACADEMY idea Berman was completely against.

Heath Ledger has recently dropped out of his next 3 films. In other news, MGM has been sending out feelers for a new James Bond, with Heath Ledger as a front runner. Ehh, they could do worse.

Quintin Tarrantino's next film will be the untitled Vega Brothers film with Michael Madsen and John Travolta.

For a movie that will NEVER come out, WATCHMEN has had more directors then ANY film ever. Now, Darren Aronofsky is signed on to direct it. He now joins Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, Stephen Spielberg and six other past 'directors' to have been signed on for the film.

21 Jump Street, Knight Rider, The Man From UNCLE, The Prisoner, and The Six Million Dollar Man have all been announced as 'Comming To A Theatre Near You' within the past 2 weeks. George Clooney is being sought after for THE PRISONER while Will Smith is said to be attached to the Steve Austin roll in SMDM, which will go for laughs instead of action/drama.

---Television---

In an interesting third hour twist, UK's SKYTV is offering up 1/2 of the production costs to keep ANGEL on the air for a sixth season. This COULD be interesting.

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter both picked up a story about the WB obtaining WONDERFALLS for next season. TV Guide shot down said rumors, along with FOX.

TRANSYLVANIA will be the title of the VAN HELSING TV spin-off. No stars from the film are set to be on it, as it will feature an entirely new cast.

The GODDESS Parker Posey comes to television in the form of FRANKENSTEIN! She will be playing a police detective who along with a partner discover the existance of Dr. Frankenstein and his monster in modern day times. The series takes place in Seattle.

---DVD/Video---

The DAWN OF THE DEAD remake DVD will feature 25 minutes of un edited footage and a 'video diary' from the gun store owner.

Ths Friday The 13th Boxed set now looks to be a 4 disc set with each film taking one side of the discs.

The A-Team: The First Season, Kids In The Hall: The First Season, and Samurai Jack: The First Season are all supposed to come out tomorrow.

In a 'Fight of the Sappiest', The Gilmore Girls and Party of Five BOTH have thier first seasons coming out next week on DVD. I wonder which one is gonna sell better.

May 25th sees the Lord of the Rings TRILOGY box set coming to shelves, but it's only the theatrical versions. Buffy's sixth season also comes out the same week.

The week of June 8th will be interesting when Wonder Woman: The First Season, The Simpsons Complete Fourth Season, CSI Miami First Season, Curb Your Enthusiasm Complete Second Season, Dead Like Me The First Season, Dead Zone Complete Second Season, Everybody Loves Raymond First Season,Gene Rodenbery's Andromeda's Third Season, Hercules Third Season, Joe Schmo Season One UNCENSORED, Just Shoot Me Seasons 1 & 2, Land of the Lost Complete First Season, Monk Complete First Season, Nip/Tuck Complets First Season, Playmakers complete series, Quantom Leap The First Series, Reno 911 Season One, Sealab 2021 The First Season, Six Feet Under Complete Second Season, South Park Season Four, Spider-Man The 1967 Classic Collection, Tour of Duty The First Season, Who's The Boss First Season, Wiseguy: Pray For The City(from season two), and Xena Season Four are ALL comming out in the same week! Talk about saturation, huh? Also this week, TARZAN THE APE MAN featuring a nude Bo Derek gets a special edition DVD, SCTV: 90 Random Episodes, Sailor Moon S The Boxed Set, Robocop The Trilogy, Red Sonja Sepcial Edition, Patlabor The Series Vol. One, Mystic River, The Lone Wolf and Cub Trilogy, Greystoke The Legend of Tarzan Special Edition, Dark Fury: Chronicles of Riddick(Animated sequel to Pitch Black), Cold Mountain, City Of God, The Cat From Outer Space, Blazing Saddles 30th Anniversary Special Edition, Big Top Pee-Wee Special Edition (COMMENTARY!!!), and Bad Santa: Unedited Directors Cut making this the LARGEST 'DVD Geek Day' ever. I, sadly, will end up owning most of these.

---Music---

The Cure have a new CD coming out in June. They will be on The Tonight Show April 30th, to perform the first single, and then it's off to Coachella Music Fest where I will be to see and boo the fuck out of them. Nope, I can't say that I like them all that much any more. They've also decided to go ahead and do other shows here in the states this year instead of making Coachella their only US show.

ORBITAL is no more. The group have one last album coming out this summer, then they are playing their last show at the Glastonbury Festival over in the UK.

A PERFECT CIRCLE's new CD comes out next week, with the promise of a new TOOL cd for next summer.

PRIMUS kicks off a US tour next month in wich they will be playing the whole FRIZZLE FRY album during shows.

-----
Ok, that's it for now.
(Whew! That's a long one.)

I'd heard from the Internet Movie Database (www.imdb.com) that Jim Carrey is playing Steve Austin in Todd Phillips' Six Million Dollar Man. I've also read it in a few papers, most notably the Calgary Herald. Odd.

You and I are now at war.

OF COURSE Gilmore Girls will do better. America has taste. (Wait, no they don't.) Oh. It still will.

No word on Wonderfalls from savewonderfalls.com or showrunner Tim Minear's site, nor TV Tattle or TV Barn, so I'd say Jordan Levin's going to wait a little while more. But it will happen. Oh. It will.

An American Gothic movie? FUCK YEAH!!

And personally, I think the Rock could do Namor. He'd need coaching from a good director, though. Someone to tell him where to tone it down and where to bring it up. He sure looks the shit, anyway.

Hollywood has been on the crappy remake bus for a few years now. I dont think its some sort of Black thing. Especially when you mentioned a remake in the previous paragraph starring Paris Hilton of all people.

Apparently, it will be a prequel of some sort. I suppose that makes sense since the last Next Gen film bombed, and both DS9 and Voyager lack the "casual fanbase". I doubt they'll tie it in with Enterprise, though, so I'm not sure where they'll be going with this one. $10 says it'll be a mixed-cast film of some kind. Starfleet Academy is a concept that has been repeatedly shot down for years, and not just by Berman.

I'm repeatedly amazed by the support for this show... it's nice too see a group of fans who aren't seething and bickering. Hopefully some network suit will bite.

I think if more blacks owned their own production companies or the studio employed more black scriptwriters you would see less crap like that. As it stands films like that or very cheap to make and always recoup a profit. Like the Johnson Family did with just a measly 20 Mil B.O. Good business standpoint, sucks on a consumer level. With that said you sound as if only white people can make ethnic mafia and spoof movies.

Variety Online was reporting last week that Phillips finally backed out due to the budget he was given and Carrey walked with him.

Now THAT's what I was hoping NOT to sound like. What I just don't understand is, why can't they come up with thier own, original ideas, in stead of stealing someone elses ideas. Most hollywood remakes get crapped on by me, I'm not just saying that the ethnic ones are shit.

A few comments on this post. Rock playing Namor is fine, but he should be Tony Stark. He kinda looks like Stark and has his charisma. Of course, if I were Rock I would have taken the pay cut to be Eddie Brock in Spidey 3. Of course, after the bitching about Michael Clark Duncan as Kingpin, I can see why he wouldn't want it. Rock in any Marvel movie is a good one since Namor will probably be tied into a Fantastic Four movie or the rumored Secret Wars film.

As a Trekkie, let me say this, Star Trek is dead. Enterprise has been a disaster since day one, Voyager and Nemesis were huge disappointments and Starfleet Adventures is not something fans wil want to see. Star Trek needs to go away for awhile, let absences let the heart grow founder, then relaunch a new show.

Buffy Season Six is a must to get, three audio commentaries, deleted scenes, gag reels and the best Buffy arc since Graduation Day.

I have to kinda agree with this...Friday (the original one) was a funny ass movie and so was Don't Be a Menace (both black written)...I would love to see Dave Chappelle gather together a bunch of black actors and writers and get something going (honestly, I think this only a matter of time and he has the connections (Rusty Cundieff as the director of "Fear of a Black Hat" and I'm assuming Eddie Murphy would be involved in some form due to his brother)), he co-wrote Half Baked which I think is one of the funniest movies ever

As for Bond, I think MacGregor would be the best choice (he has that "quiet cool" about him) but Ledger would be a pretty good one

Yes.

No, probably not, but I'd like to hear what you thought was good about it. (In a PM, so's we don't hijack this thread.) It's the only Star Trek movie that makes me angry when I think about how bad it was. (Yes, even 5 was better.)

Hey now, I liked Nemesis too! While it may not have been a the greatest story in the world, the movie was carried by Tom Hardy (the actor playing Picard's evil clone). It was a blow away performance, he is one of the best young actors have seen. How can no talent pretty-boys with less acting ability than my parakeets become household names, when a man like this is avalible? It makes my blood boil.

For what it's worth, I found Insurrection to be the worst Star Trek. The movie was so pretentious and angst-ridden it felt like it was writen by a 13-year-old goth boy who just found out his parents won't let him go see Donnie Darko.

If Heath Freakin' Ledger is the best they can come up with, then they may as well put the franchise into mothballs 'til Colin Farrell or Christian Bale get to the right age. Bond is NOT a late-twenties/early-thirties hunk, you studio nimrods.

And QT's next movie will be whatever he ends up sticking to for more than a day at a time. Sure, he says the Vega Brothers film is the next on the slate, but six months ago it was Inglorious Bastards, a month ago it was his "ultimate airline disaster movie" with Pam Grier, two weeks ago it was the Casino Royale adaptation, and not three days ago he was on my TV yakking about his animated Kill Bill prequel ideas. I love the guy as much as the next geek, but til he starts shooting there's nothing confirmed.
