Basically you submit a written response to the infraction report, then the NCAA has a timeline to submit a rebuttal to that response then you can submit another response then they can move to oral arguments once the committee meets, then a decision. At least that's how I remember it from what FSU went through last year. It's a slow process, and I would expect if they appeal that it won't be decided until after the coming season.
Then of course if you want to you could challenge that decision legally if USC wants to push the matter and who knows how long that would take. But in the end, this is not at all likely to be overturned in any part so USC is just delaying the punishment and making things worse because they won't be able to recruit again until this is behind them.
As for the BCS I'm sure they will strip the title once this is all over with. Not sure why "shame on" them. They're waiting until the appeals process is over. No big deal, we'll just not have any champion for that year on the official books I'd bet.
Who cares what the AP wants to do.
And redsoxnation, I would rather avoid the dirty years. FSU has had a down decade and the last thing I want is for them to start cheating(well...more) to get back on top. But then I got one of the best runs ever before this so I don't feel desperate. Yet. | wmatistic

Juniors and Seniors are going to be allowed to transfer without sitting out a year. This was only stated for basketball yesterday but the NCAA said it applies to football as well. I don't know how that will work while the appeal is ongoing, but that could be big. Schools are allowed to contact the players first. | Texas Kelly

The shame is for their intent to leave the title vacant rather than awarding a split title to Oklahoma and Auburn. But they at least have an excuse, since their award is entirely based on an actual game with just two teams - the AP doesn't. There is absolutely no valid reason for USC to keep the AP award whatsoever.

The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future. | |

Man, I can't wait to watch the juniors and seniors bail like rats on a sinking ship.

I could see him wanting to bolt, but I can't see anyone who would pay him enough to bolt. If you are a major program, why would you take a coach whose sanity was questioned by an NFL owner (ok, it was Al Davis) and who would have been a college coach for 2 years and bolted two major programs in 2 years? As for the juniors and seniors bolting: If this was January and teams hadn't used scholarships on incoming players, you would see them fleeing town. In June, how many programs have scholarships available?

honestly most have a few open up right now as they are just finding out about borderline kids who didn't qualify. Michigan lost a five star, Miami had at least two I think, Florida a transfer, etc. They can't all go to the same school, but there are openings for sure. | | Pages: Prev 1 2
