Might as well turn this into the College Football Week 14 Thread. For the love of God does Georgia Tech have a backup quarterback on the roster? Reggie Ball might be the worst non-option senior passing QB I have ever seen, and that is with the benefit of the best receiver in college football. Why don't teams spike the ball when they are rushing out with little time on the clock and downs don't matter? USC is a completely different team outside of the Coliseum. Even at the end I thought it would be shades of South Bend for UCLA and they would get beat at the gun on a big play. First time I've seen the shovel picked and returned for a touchdown since Bubby Brister led the Rich Kotite Jets. And somehow Arkansas finds a way to make an even dumber play on the muffed punt in the end zone after Florida wasted all 3 of their time-outs on what appeared to be a wasted drive. Did the Florida and Arkansas coaching staffs steal the playbook of Florida State from the 1980's/early 1990's? If the BCS had any logic, Ohio State would get a bye and Michigan would face Florida in the Rose Bowl on January 1st, the winner to face Ohio State 7 days later in the desert. But, why the hell would we have that occur. If Florida goes to the BCS Title Game and Michigan and USC then face-off in the Rose Bowl, do the LSU fans that thought they were buying Rose Bowl tickets riot? Now, the fun part. The new players in what could be an interesting shell game are Louisville/Wisconsin/Boise State. Do any Harris or Coaches Poll voters screw around and flip any of those teams into the 3 hole in order to provide protection for the team they select 2nd? As for who should be #2: I'll take Florida because of: Michigan had a shot at Ohio State, failed, and needed a backdoor touchdown to make it close. Meanwhile, Florida lost a game at Auburn that they dominated and the final score is tilted due to a score with no time left by the Auburn defense. Florida is a conference champ while Michigan is a conference runner-up, and this season the SEC was a much deeper conference than the Big 10. I won't lose any sleep if Michigan is #2 and I will get a good chuckle seeing Urban Meyer's head explode if they aren't #2, but, I'd have to take Florida.

The sad thing is, yes, we do have other quarterbacks. And I know the backup QB (Taylor Bennett, in this case) is every fan's favorite player until he gets on the field, but in this case, I honestly think benching Ball was the right decision to make a looooooooong time ago. Bennett has actually done fairly well when he's been put in. Sadly, Chan Gailey is about as worthless as a coach as Ball is as a quarterback. Ironically, once Ball is gone next year, there may be some quarterback controversy because we'll have THREE good quarterbacks, at least one of which is supposed to be really something special.
Thank God USC lost so that I didn't have to drown my sorrows today.
Well Florida only won by 10 but scoring 38 points against a team that only allows 16 points per game is about as good as they could've possibly done.
What was up with the UCLA and USC altercation where they stood on opposite sides of the field and...jumped up and down? Wow, that'll show em. Really it reminds me of fights in high school when two guys who were about ten times less cool than they thought would get in a "fight" where they just bumped chests for 10 minutes without actually doing anything. Granted it would be stupid to get kicked out of the game but they looked silly showing their male dominance by jumping.

More importantly, could they give it back? I miss at least three trick plays a game. Those were the days.

Cause Michigan already had it's shot? Just sayin.
I think he was alluding to the fact that a playoff would be really nice in this situation. I didn't watch the SportsCenter update at midnight eastern but one of their bullet points was "Does the BCS work?"
I say that we should screw all the 1-loss teams and just throw Boise State at OSU. THAT'LL END THE CONTROVERSY!!!

Here here!
Since the NCAA clearly doesn't care if their champ is legit or not, why not make their championship like a wrestling title? Texas held the belt coming into the season until they were beaten by Ohio State in Week Two. Can anyone take the title from the Buckeyes in the National Championship Game? Or will it be a Triple Threat Game? BAH GAWD BUSINESS IS ABOUT TO PICK UP

I know he was talking about a playoff, and my point was didn't we already sorta have round one last week with Michigan vs Ohio State, so why should Michigan get another shot? I see no point in this.

There is a pretty good chance Michigan is going to get another shot and Florida is going to get no shot, so put the 2 teams on the field in an elimination game (not playoff, as this is the bowl subdivision of Division I, not the playoff subdivision) and the winner plays Ohio State a week later. Not going to happen while Miles Brand is alive due to all the schoolwork the athletes would miss during Winter Break, but, a college football fan can delude themself. From having a 52 yard field goal with 10 seconds left in regulation to send them to a BCS Bowl to a missed 2 point conversion in triple overtime that sends them to the Texas Bowl. Finally, the State University of New Jersey's DNA reappeared. With Louisville as an automatic and the 2 team max rule in place, it is going to be difficult for the people who hate Notre Dame to complain about their inclusion in the BCS.

I forgot to mention this in my earlier post. As far as I could tell, this was in response to the sick hit a USC defender put on UCLA's QB as he was running out of bounds on 3rd down.
Here's what I don't get: why the f didn't anybody mention the fact that it was a helmet-to-helmet hit? I can't believe the QB got up so quickly. Not only should there have been a flag thrown, the announcers should have AT LEAST mentioned that possibility. Instead, they just kept replaying the hit over and over and again and chuckling about it. Typical USC ass-kissing.

Wait, what? Does Notre Dame fall into the Big East bowl tie-ins when they don't qualify automatically?

They fall into the non-BCS Big East bowl mix when they are bowl eligible but they don't make the BCS. However, the one method where Notre Dame could have been bumped would have been Rutgers winning the Big East and a Top 5 Louisville being taken as an at large, or controversy over Notre Dame being takne ahead of a 1 loss Louisville. At this point, there is no ACC team that would be taken at-large, the SEC and Big Ten have their 2 slots, thus eliminating Top 15 teams from that conference that aren't already chosen. The Big XII and Pac 10 have no teams under 3 losses as at-larges, eliminating them, and the Big East would have a 2 loss West Virginia who will probably be beneath Notre Dame in the rankings. Thus, with the current rules in place, there is few other places for the BCS Bowls to go for an at-large team other than Notre Dame.
Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you... BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Just like last year, at the very end, I am proven right about USC once again. I've been saying for weeks that they didn't deserve to be in the title game and they proved it in spades yesterday.
It's looking like our BCS games will be:
National Championship: Ohio State v. Florida Rose Bowl: USC v. Michigan Sugar Bowl: Notre Dame v. LSU Orange Bowl: Wake Forest v. Louisville Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma v. Boise State
Would have loved to have seen a Wake/Rutgers matchup. Boo to West Virginia for spoiling that particular party.
smark/net attack Advisory System Status is: Elevated (Holds; June 18, 2006) While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Wait, I can understand about this year, but what did you say about USC last year? Because I'm pretty sure you'd be a fool to say they didn't deserve to be in that title game. I mean if you just said they would lose, as did I, then ok. Just making sure.
Would rather see OU vs Louisville, but otherwise nice lineup this year.

I said last year that USC wouldn't repeat, in a lot of places (not sure if this was one of them, but that was my big prediction for the year). This year it was that USC wasn't nearly as good as advertised. They seriously should have lost at least one or two more games in addition to the ones they did, and I can't wait for Michigan to beat them in the Rose. (I'm saying this assuming that Florida, deservedly so, gets the title shot against Ohio State based on the polls released earlier today.)

Well if those are BCS matchups then I like those a lot better than the possiblities a few weeks ago.
Ohio State/Florida and Michigan/USC are big time matchups. I'd love to see LSU continue to show that Notre Dame isn't that good when they play a good team. The Wake Forest game is interesting just because of them, although I agree it would've been cool if they played Rutgers. And I'll probably even tune in to Oklahoma-Boise State just because I hate Oklahoma so much that I'm hoping Boise pulls the upset.
Edit: Also, I believe this is the first ever matchup between Florida and Ohio State. That's the kind of thing I like about the bowl games. Wake Forest/Louisville and Oklahoma/Boise State would also be first time matchups.

http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819384 I don't know that I'd say that. The games featuring schools from non-AQ conferences are pretty competitive with the rest of the non-Rose, non-Championship BCS bowls.
