I can't believe I'm reading this. Can Michigan fans wait until there's at least a year past since the home loss to Division I-AA Appalachian State before they start talking about how they couldn't possibly lose to a Division I-A team that won more games than them last season (not to mention won a BCS bowl game more recently)? You sound ridiculous.

God, I hope so. (Maryland fan here)

    Re: IGNORANT OF THE GAME.

I was mostly mocking him calling people ignorant of the game over stupid things that were sometimes opinion. I'd rather call them 1A/1AA too.

    Re: Who should be #1?
    ---
LSU won the national title last year. They should be #1 until they lose. Considering the actual #1 ranked team right now is in LSU's conference, and LSU won the conference.

    Re: Arizona State being overrated
    ---
I don't see them being very good in a competitive conference. They seem to get their asses blown out in every big game.

    Re: Clemson being overrated
    ---
They always are the "sleeper" team of the ACC and they always find a way to win games they aren't supposed to win.. then turn around and lose games they never should. Remember the year they lost to Dook? I won't believe in them until this stops, even if they have an insanely good backfield and solid defense like they do this year.

I guess I don't see the Pac 10 as being as competitive this year. Oregon will be down a bit. UCLA still won't be much trouble. Cal....eh. It's basically back to USC and a bunch of other teams, so I give Arizona State a good shot at being number two in that conference.

Without going through the Pac-10 schedules to see who-plays-who-where, I'd agree with this. In the Pac-10, QB experience is always pretty critical, and the only teams with returning, unquestioned starters are ASU (Carpenter), UA (Tuitama), and UW (Jesus Jake Locker). OSU, Cal, and Stanford have QB competitions and Oregon, WSU, USC, and UCLA (because of injuries to starters) are breaking in new guys. Obviously, USC is the clear favorite, but I'd put ASU #2 with Oregon #3 going into the league.

I'm a Mizzou fan, and even I can admit that SI putting them above Oklahoma is a joke. They lost to them TWICE last year, and the Sooners didn't lose that much. That said, I do believe Mizzou could beat them if they both make the Big 12 championship game. And who woulda thunk Mizzou would be on the cover of SI twice within a year?

The polls never seem to make a lick of sense. Hopefully MU can take out the Sooners this year, though. If it comes to that.

Jeez, injuries everywhere this first week of practice.

Florida loses TE Ingram for the year, which really hurts. He was a stud. Then Harvin and several other guys went down this week with injuries though most aren't thought to be too severe. Never know with Harvin though, he's likely still working through his last one. Not a good sign.

And USC has Sanchez go down. They're playing it like not a huge deal, but I'd be shocked if he can play against Ohio State. Uh oh, someone just opened the door for another Ohio State national championship appearance. Ick.

"Appearance" being the key word. I've had fun with those!

They do have a back-up who took big snaps at Arkansas in Mustain though. Sanchez didn't wow me when he played last season.

Yeah I knew about Mustain, I guess I just didn't know what the deal was. I too wasn't really impressed with Sanchez so I kinda figured that if Mustain couldn't beat him for the job he must not be the big deal he was hyped as during recruiting.
