Quick, name ANY of the first four winners of "Nashville Star." Well, it was announced at the TCA that there'll be a fifth season. We hope John Cena will again make pithy comments as a guest judge
In other news, USA has paid out the wazoo for first broadcast rights to "Pirates 2" - something like $20-25M. Look for the first airing some time in late 2008. ("Pirates 1" debuts on USA SATURDAY.)
For more fun and games, including the live appearance of the "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" contestants at the Sci-Fi presentation, Andre 3000 stumping for Cartoon Network, CNN's "War" series, Parker and Stone's "South Park" 10th Season hype for Comedy Central, all this AND Mr. T, too, check out the BC Beat blog (broadcastingcable.com).

Buddy Jewell, Brad Cotter, Erika Jo, and Chris Young.
Bah, I had the first two. And Young has his first single out ("Drinkin' me lonely," I believe). Pretty good for someone who's never seen the show. That's what happens when you listen to country music all the time.
As for the host, why did they get rid of LeAnn Rimes? She alone would've made me at least considering checking out the show.
LeAnn might have been busy with recording or touring.
For my money, though, Nancy O'Dell was a great host for the first two seasons. Great legs ("she knows how to use them"), and she knows her country music.

Don't look for her to come back, either, if this is any indication.
Miranda Lambert (3rd place in Season 1) is the best act to come out of the show so far. Buddy is a solid # 2.
The comedy potential of Cowboy Troy & Wynonna, that was seen in their initial awards show pairing, was never realized and they were terrible. I always liked it when Sara Evans would sub as hostess for LeAnn in Season 3.
