I was initially hesitant to pick this one up with MK Shaolin Monks coming in another week, but it's Namco and after getting about 30% through story mode, I'm pleasantly suprised. It's got alot of the Def Jam: Fight for NY feel with a single punch and a single grapple button and it moves nice and fast. Evasions are by timing taps of the square button and while they take a little getting used to, are a necessity to survival where I'm used to being almost pure offense (but I don't button mash, thankyouverymuch :-).
The character models in Def Jam look better and are more unique where several characters that I've seen so far are similar (bandanas over their faces, ballcaps, etc) looks. I've been in a five-on-one at one point with minimal slowdown, which was nice.
Give it a rent if you liked DJ:FFNY. Compared to the excellent play in the Shaolin Monks demo, Urban Reign feels right at home as well.
And to think, I went with the intention of picking up (the allegedly early-released) We Love Karamari... :-)
