| #1 Posted on 5.1.04 1447.58 | Instant Rating: 4.89 | I was reading through WWE's Corporate website and came across a paragraph in the media section regarding some upcoming books:
Upcoming books in fiscal year 2004 include "Making the Game- Triple H’s Approach to a Better Body", "To Be The Man" (Ric Flair biography), "The Edgeucation of Adam Copeland" (Edge Biography).
While I'm sure he has more than enough interesting stories to fill a book, it seems a little too soon for Edge to be releasing a biography. You'd think they would at least wait until he wins the world championship.
On the other hand, if the Flair book is given the attention to detail that his DVD was (and seeing how well the DVD has sold, it's nearly safe to assume they'll take notice) then this could be as good, if not better, than Foley's book.
Another interesting note, from a paragraph mentioning various WWE published books that had been translated to Japanese...
"Tajiri- The Japanese Buzzsaw" will be our first book to only be published in a foreign language.
Is Tajiri really that big of a star in Japan? I know he got a huge pop when the WWE was in Japan last year, but I figured that was just a matter of being the "hometown" hero. Seems like Ultimo Dragon would be a better candidate, but he probably doesn't need the WWE for a project like that.
Also, in regards to WWE Films:
WWE Films is currently working on an animation series, two live-action television series, and several feature films.
Please, God, tell me the animation series isn't going to be HHH's Rock 'n Wrestling.
It also mentions 10 new DVDs and 2 "Budget DVDs" (‘Cause Stone Cold Said So, and Undertaker He Buries Them Alive) remaining for fiscal year 2004. (WWE's fiscal year ends on April 30th) I'm not sure when this was last updated, but it does mention Ric Flair's DVD having been released, so that means 10 new DVDs between then and April 30th.
I don't recall reading about most of this before, so I thought I'd pass the info along.| Promote this thread! | | redsoxnation

The time period of '77-'91 could be classic if Ric lets everything loose.

That being said, Flair's book is the only one I'd be interested in getting. If it's a long length (same range as Foley's first one) and the ghostwriter is talented, it's basically a no-lose situation.
Rob asks Dave and Ric if they want to go backstage to play Hungry Hungry Hippos and Flair and Batista immediately bail. Flair wants to be Green. Man, EVERYBODY wants to be green. Except the girl in the commercials. She wanted to be pink. That either means that the ad agency was sexist or that she was communist. Of course Hungry Hungry Hippos is a rather capitalist game isn’t it? No self respecting communist would play Hungry Hungry Hippos. Except Stalin. He LOVED Hungry Hungry Hippos. God, I’ve got no clue what the hell I’m rambling about anymore.-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking, Raw Satire writer extraordinaire

I think his ego will get in the way and it will all be from the perspective of Ric Flair being the greatest. Flair strikes me as someone who was absorbed in kayfabe for a little too long to write the kind of book that Foley did. Having said that, I'm sure it will be good and better than the offerings we've seen from Hogan, Chyna and (sadly) Angle. I love Angle, but I didn't care for his book much at all. | The King of Keith

I just don't know how they'd do it, though, because no one has the gimmicks to propel their characters anymore. You won't have the Iron Shiek, JYD, or Hillbilly Jim.

Its a pretty good read. Edges book is going to be a legit autobiography. I read on his commentary on WWE.com that its one of the things he started doing to keep himself busy

| #7 Posted on 5.1.04 1819.43 | Instant Rating: 1.26 | As for the Flair Bio, I'm sure it'll be different from Foley's for one major reason, but not his ego, or a WWE slant.
One of my friends met Flair at a personal appearence, and said that he was very nice, shook everyone's hand, posed for pictures, and gave out personalized autographs. That, plus his manner when not in kayfabe (see the Raw tribute), and his willingness to put over others, even if they weren't at his level, give me the impression that he doesn't have that big of an ego.
Vince gave Mick to go-ahead to essentially put anything he wanted in his book, why wouldn't he give Flair the same courtesy? If the book does put Vince over, it might be because Flair actually feels that way, and it's just his nature to credit others.
The major reason why Flair's book will be different from Foley's is the same reason as to why Chyna's, Kurts, and Rocks books were; Foley hand-wrote his himself, while the others had someone write theirs for them. I'm sure that if it is different, that'll be the major reason why, because he'll have someone writing for him, as opposed to the book being all 'Naitch.

Unless we are talking percentages, in which I could see some concern in the possibility of a 500 page book containing 40 pages from his 1991-1993 WWF run, and 150 pages covering his 2001-2004 WWE run. That I would not find surprising. | ParagonOfVirtue

I was reading a little of the Stone Cold Truth at B&N and I couldn't do it. It was too 'eh'. I think I'll give it a read eventually just because I want to hear what he has to say about certain angles, but it doesn't seem genuine. I suppose the authenticity and godliness of Foley's book has spoiled me on wrestling books. With that said, it looks like I may read Edges' even though I have never particularily cared for him. | Mike Sweetser

So if you're expecting the book to gloss over it, think again.

Watch the opening to each segment of the Flair DVD where he is complimentary towards wrestlers strengths (even Dusty Rhodes). Flair can avoid being locked in kayfabe when it serves its purpose. As for letting loose, I'm not talking about him ripping Vince. If he doesn't mention one word about Vince, I'd be happy. By letting loose I mean him talking about working with the Von Erich's, the Magnum's, the Brody's etc without sugarcoating it. And remember, Foley was extremely anti-WCW/pro-WWF through most of his book.

I don't think any of us are in any position to question if Tajiri has the star power to sell massive book copies in Japan. The only ones who can truly answer that are the fans in Japan. Time will tell on this one.
If Edge gets a big hype job to go with the release of his new book, then you can bet he'll get a major push when he returns. HUZZAH!
I'm pretty sure the well runs dry once this series of books is released. The only ones who would be worth writing books on at this point would be Rey Mysterio and the Dudleyz.
