A while ago, I used to hear this song that I loved and always meant to buy the CD but never did. The song I loved faded away and I never heard it on the radio again. A week ago, for some reason the song crept back into my mind as I was downloading some tunes. But I can;t remember the name of the song of the artist. And my memory of the lyrics is sketchy at best but here goes:

I would swallow my pride
I would choke on a _____
But the lack thereof would make me empty inside
Swallow my doubt
Turn it inside out
Find nothing but faith in nothing
Want to put my tender heart in a blender
Watch it ____ around in a _____ oblivion
Rendevous and I through with you

Any help with the song and artist would be appreciated. Also, is the group still around or were they this one song and that was it?

To be exact though, the name of the song is "Inside Out."

They were somehwat of a one hit wonder band, though they have 2 or 3 singles that I remember. Inside Out was definately only the real 'hit'. Their self-titled album which these were off of is pretty good, but nothing I would go out of my way to buy again if I lost my copy.

And here's a link to Eve 6's Wikipedia entry to answer any of questions about the band you may have: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eve_6

They also had a pretty decent hit with the song "Here's to the Night" ... it was pretty much a graduation anthem a few years back.

Maybe it's just me, but if someone asked me to name a big Eve 6 song, *I* would name "Here's to the Night" and NOT that other song. Then again, I heard about this band so much in the late 90s/early 00s that I wouldn't even call them a one-hit-wonder.

This is probably because I stopped following new rock stations sometime in high school. I had no idea Eve 6 went on to more things after their initial success. Guess I shouldn't comment on things unles I'm sure I know the full picture.

Well, the disagreement could depend on what kind of station you were listening to. Here are "Inside Out"'s highest ranking on each of the Billboard charts, with "Here's To The Night"'s highest rankings in parenthesis.

#16 (7) Adult Top 40
#5 (N/A) Mainstream Rock Tracks
#1 (33) Modern Rock Tracks
#28 (30) Hot 100
#11 (14) Top 40 Mainstream
#20 (14) Top 40 Tracks
#2 (1) Top 40 Adult Recurrents

So as you can see, they rank about equally, except that "Inside Out" went higher on the Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock charts, while "Here's To The Night" went higher on the Adult Top 40 chart. Given the characteristics of the two songs, that hardly seems surprising.

"Here's to the Night" was my senior prom's song. I didn't stay long enough to hear it, thankfully.

For the record, I did my damndest to get Pink Floyd's "Echoes," but my efforts fell short.

My ten year old son has a artist and song request. He knows the refrain and I can't find what song it is:

Say it ain't so
I will not go
Turn the lights off
Carry me home

Thanks!

"All The Small Things"

While you're all here though, what's the cheesy instrumental tune at the beginning of the first "Yacht Rock" short found here?

Not "Sweet Freedom", the song playing under the freeze-frame intros.

That's probably Breezin' by George Benson (The W at Amazon).

Thanks Guru and Brian. I will pass this on to my son, who will be suitably impressed at the knowledge I can glean from the members of the W.

In case it gets that far, you probably wouldn't want to be buying that particular CD for an 11-year old. The single is curse-free, though. (At least I'm pretty sure.)

Thanks, JJD. Right now he spends his time going through my CDs saying "Can I borrow this?" I look at the song list and say "um, no, put that back." I guess I didn't acquire most of my CD collection with a pre-teen in mind.

Green Day
Smash Mouth (parent advisory right on the label!)
