I saw King's X, Dream Theater, and Joe Satriani (in that order) at the Florida Theater in Jacksonville, FL Tuesday. It was an incredible show. I was sitting a bit off to the right in the 3rd row. King's X wasn't one of my favorite bands before, but they won me over with they're performance. All three members harmonize so well vocally...and they impressed me with their jamming too.
Joe was great, he is definitely a great guitarist, but he had these strobes that just about caused mass seizures.
Dream Theater...unbe-freaking-lievable! I already knew that they were five of the most talented musicians around, but I was not prepared for this. There's way to much to describe in this post, but I would encourage anyone who loves music to catch these guys whenever possible. John Petrucci is my favorite guitarist, and Mike Portnoy has stage presence that you would not believe. His drumset is huge! He has three bass drums and a mess of snares and toms. He also has Animal (the Muppet) hanging from his gong, and can throw a drumstick halfway across the audience without missing a beat. James La Brie must have Mariah Carey's range or his nuts in a vice...either way I was thoroughly impressed. He also knows how to get the crowd into it. I could go on and on....
Check out the bands' websites for tour dates. I think they already hit the west coast. Sorry CRZ.

Bassist for TV on the Radio has passed away. TV On the Radio's Gerard Smith dies of lung cancer (hosted.ap.org) One of those bands that has made it bigger than I ever thought they would (and I say that as a fan).
