"Ultimo Dragon, one of the greatest workers of all time, returned to EMLL TV on the show which aired in Mexico over the weekend. Los Guerreros del Infierno jumped him, which lead to their main event match against Shocker & Negro Casas & Vampiro (who Dragon said was responsible for him coming back to Mexico). Hopefully this airs on TV in two weeks."
I thought for all intents and purposes his arm was mush. If it has improved to the point it is viable for him to work, then this is excellent news. And if his pupils also make their way to EMLL, Damn.
Rumors have been flying for years that he was coming back to TORYUMON soon. I guess it's finally coming to fruition. I hope he's back and his arm works.
There had been rumors circulating about for months that might attempt a comeback.
I'd look toward the Toryumon vs. T2P card in September as a likely return date.
You're all so WONDERFUL. Why did they ever have to remove you from the continuity? You'd have made for MARVELOUS stories. You WILL make marvelous stories. And the FIRST story of the new world will be a story of REVENGE! -- The Psycho Pirate, Animal Man 23, May 1990.
You know, if the WWE was smart, they would get Ultimo on contract and let him get some primo American exposure. And if/when he decides to hang up the mask, then he would make a great addition to the development team for future curiserweights.
If Finley can do what he's done for the ladies, imagine what Ultimo could do for Cruisers...
I would like to congatulate Al Snow on his contact with La-Z-Boy. Because we all know Al doesn't sell chairs. - Mick Foley
Why wouldn't he want to wrestle in WWE? After all, he's a former WWE cruiserweight champion, sort of. And we all know how well cruiserweights get pushed in WWE.
I was born in a manger, like that other guy. You know, he wore a hat?
I hope he stays as far away from Stamford as possible and keeps his student with him.
Toryumon and T2P are my favorite companies in the business right now and I don't want them besmerched.
Remember how well they booked Magnum Tokyo and Ciima in WCW?

Was Magnum Tokyo the guy with the cat mask and pink tights that hung out with Disco and Alex Wright? Whoever that guy was had a great gimmick. Sure it was comic relief, but he wore a freakin little black mask and pink tights.

When was Ciima in WCW?
(edited by BigDaddyLoco on 18.8.02 2226)
I saw Cima all of one time in WCW, aside from (I think) a six-man tag schmozz. It was a singles match on Thunder, IIRC, and I think they spelled his name Shima.
He got pyro. Lame Adam Bomb surplus mushroom cloud pyro, but pyro all the same. And he won his match, I seem to remember.
I remember thinking that that (and the fact that they kept talking about them as Ultimo's students) meant that he, Tokyo Magnum (as they insisted on calling him) and Judo Suwa were going to actually do something.
I was young, and naive.

What's really funny is that Disco apparently is going over to Japan and team with Magnum in a six-man, I think on the big September show. I think it would be really funny if they also brought Alex Wright to be the third person.

If I remember correctly, UD was backstage at a wwf show a year-or-two ago and there was talk of him training some of the light/crusierweights, despite his arm problems.
But it's obvious that didn't work out.
I do hope his arm is better. I'm not a big fan of Japanese wrestling, but I have the Chris Jericho RF tape and the Jericho/UD match is on there- and it's pretty damn good.

God, I hope he is able to return. I loved watching his matches, as they were always entertaining, regardless of his opponent (though it was usually another cruiser).
I won't be expecting any handspring manuvers or things of that nature, but he'll still be able to throw those kicks of his. The only other wrestler I've seen with a set of kicks that look as punishing is Tajiri.

--- DR: I could see Ultimo wrestling in WWE. His students in WWE would be great exposure. CIMA, SUWA and Magnum in WCW was great experience. Where else would have that kind of experience as Japanese rookies? Look how well they turned out after the WCW and EMLL experiences.
Of course, if WWE was smart they would send developemental guys to train with Ultimo in Japan since Ultimo is THE greatest trainer of wrestlers EVER.

DEAN.
CIMA & SUWA in the WWE... oh, man, that'd be something. Put 'em on Smackdown with Eddie, Chavo, and Tajiri and LET THE DICK HEELS REIGN SUPREME.

Jesus christ on a minibike! I saw like 90% of the bizarrely split show on Saturday, somehow missed Ultimo Dragon, did my usual channel flipping through all recaps except the 'estrella' highspot reel on Sunday.
I'm gonna haveta start taping those shows, I guess.
Hey, I'm detecting a really mild endorsement of Ultimo's in-ring skills in many of the other postings on this thread. I know him only through his WCW matches (of which there were about fifteen with Y2J, so the gentleman who posted digging their one match should keep looking for others on old Saturday Night and Nitro tapes), but the guy was great. Always welcome on my TV screen.
How the heck did Nate get to be a light heavyweight in only seven-plus months?!? I'm a laggard in THIS, too?!

Matt Re-hashing his V1 days and making Gunner and Murphy his new MFers = GOLD. Especially because it will piss so many people off (and hey, heels should piss people off).
