This show is a genuine letdown from Spectacular. Are children's attention spans nowadays almost non-existent? I could stand the way the show is talking down to me and probably most kids who are watching. I only saw 2nd episode due to recording mishap but it was plenty. The stories may turn out to be okay but the presentation is annoying.
I will say that it goes in a different direction than any other Spider-Man show. Whether that's a good thing or not is up to you. I wasn't all that keen on it, myself. When did Spidey ever run afoul of the Frightful Four...ever?
The supporting cast looks interesting, but...since when has Spidey ever needed a supporting cast of Marvel heroes? Like I said, it's an interesting direction, but I don't know if it's necessarily a good one.
It's a work. Would you let your brother-in-law flame out like that? Would you film his downward spiral? It's got to be a work. Plus, it looks like he breaks character a couple times towards the end of the interview.
