Good news.. following Channel Four's contract expiring, it won't be on there anymore, so they can't butcher it. Better news, it'll be back on Sky!

Awful news...,,1-1040284,00.html

Due to huge public demand Sky Box Office have stepped in at the last minute to bring one of the main World Wrestling Federation flagship events direct from the USA to British & Irish viewers.

'Royal Rumble' will be shown live from Atlanta on Sunday Night, 20th January and repeated every four hours for seven days.

Royal Rumble will include an amazing 30 wrestlers at 2 minute intervals - who will be the last man standing and gain a place in the coveted 'Wrestlemania' main event?

Viewers will also be able to catch the title match between The Rock and Chris Jericho for the undisputed WWF championship. Only Sky Box Office is big enough to handle this live and exclusive event.

Title: World Wrestling Federation - Royal Rumble
Venue: Live from Philips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
Date: The night of Sunday 20th January 2002
Time: 1am - 4am approx. (Sunday Night/Monday Morning)
Channel: Sky Digital Channel 770 and cable
Price: 14 (Euro 21.99)
Repeats: Every four hours from 4pm Monday 21st January - 8pm Sunday 27th January - unlimited repeats at no extra cost
Boooking: Viewers can purchase the event from 48 hours in advance (1am night of Friday 18th January by going to SBO Channel 770

I hope they don't do this for everything now. Good news is that the 8 PPVs Sky already had are on a seperate contract, guaranteed till 2005. The other four, however.

Watch, as we now get no sympathy from the Americans.

Feeling My current mood @, thanks for asking.
Has nothing to do with either ITVR, or the SWF. Honest.

Yep. If we get Sky, we currently subscribe to a whole load of channels for 37 a month. (admittedly, there are other packages, I'm just greedy) The PPVs are normally on Sky Sports, meaning that if you already subscribe to that channel, they come in the subscription.

However, about a year ago, Channel 4 bought Sunday Night Heat and 4 of the PPVs. They did alright (other than sticking commercial breaks in, and making em start at 1:50am), but they didn't get high enough ratings, hence the contract wasn't renewed. And now Sky have picked up the Royal Rumble at short notice... and put it on PPV.

Yeah, Channel 4 purchased the rights to Royal Rumble, Backlash, Fully Loaded/InVasion and Vengeance/Armageddon.

To the best of my memory, it took them a while to get the formula right. Royal Rumble 2000 was aired live at 1am, but had commercial breaks during the undercard. The HHH-Cactus match was uncensored, though. For Backlash, they put it on a 50 minute tape delay and edited the shit out of it, airbrushing out X-Pac's impressive blade-job and freeze-framing Trish Stratus going through a table. For Fully Loaded, they kept the tape delay and eased back on the censoring, although there was some noticeble clipping of the Hardyz/T'n'A match (fade to black, anyone?). From Armageddon 2000 onwards, there were no noticeble problems with the editing and a happy medium was found.

I should probably mention now that this is the channel that finds a woman being put through a table at 2:30am unsuitable for viewing, but thought it acceptable to show a graphic male rape scene at 10:30pm. Go figure...

Hey baby. Welcome to Dumpsville. Population: YOU.

The guy that always give me my WWF fix via his satelite dish is not able to order the PPV.

Is there anyone out there that can provide me with a link to some site or someone who can get me the PPV asap after it airs (preverably the European PAL feed, also because that should ship faster to the Netherlands)
Ofcourse we will pay
I hope one of you out there can help and my buddies cannot wait until the DVD/Video comes out

Imagine this is some funny signature. Then I will imagine you compliment me on it.

Ah, what do you expect from Da Four? The channel of the typical "trendy" hyprocritical brand-new-media tossers.

Yes, go find Socko's wrestling tapes on the 'net.

Most of the tape traders are getting nasty letters from WWF/Silvervision at the moment, but hey, if you can't get Sky, what are you supposed to do?

Who cares? It's only Nowinski/Maven (and I like Nowinski). It's not like we're talking Brock/HHH here. I'm more peeved these 2 have a PPV match while RVD eats wings at The World (and I'm a casual RVD fan).
