Strange that the post goes from talking about the Senators and then to Canada's team(the Leafs). And yeah, it should be a good year for the boys in blue!

The same way the Blue Jays were "Canada's Team" when they won the Series in '92 and '93. :)

7 games unbeaten, and they look like the team of old.
2004 will be a good year for "Canada's Team"!
I'm real interested in what happens tomorrow. There's this little team on Long Island that's been knocking off a bunch of top teams recently (Philly, New Jersey, and Toronto in one week!), and also Pittsburgh. Ok, that last part isn't so relevant, but it did happen today.

Oh...but it didn't happen last night versus the Sens.

Simple. They've been looked upon as the top team based *IN* Canada for the last few years and headed into this season. Nobody cares who leads the team, so long as the Cup is brought back into Canada.
Plus, by that logic, and with the way today's NHL is shaped, no team is Canada's Team. Or, for that matter, America's Team.
Agreed...that's why I don't buy the notion of "Canada's Team". You know which team is "Canada's Team? Team Canada. They're currently playing in the WJHC, and they'll be in the World Cup come September.
By the way, Socks...check the standings in your Ottawa Citizen tomorrow AM...who was that that's #1? :)

Oh, I know....but....What goes up must come down. And it should be about time for the Leafs to implode...any game now....
In the end...the Sens will be a top the standings...and that much closer to bringing the Cup back to Canada.

Correction, Ottawa was the top team in Canada LAST YEAR and last year only. The previous three seasons saw them get their tails kicked by the Leafs in the playoffs.
Also, Vancouver might have something to say about this.
Rob asks Dave and Ric if they want to go backstage to play Hungry Hungry Hippos and Flair and Batista immediately bail. Flair wants to be Green. Man, EVERYBODY wants to be green. Except the girl in the commercials. She wanted to be pink. That either means that the ad agency was sexist or that she was communist. Of course Hungry Hungry Hippos is a rather capitalist game isn’t it? No self respecting communist would play Hungry Hungry Hippos. Except Stalin. He LOVED Hungry Hungry Hippos. God, I’ve got no clue what the hell I’m rambling about anymore.-- Matt "Excalibur05" Hocking, Raw Satire writer extraordinaire
You know, I just can't call it the "WWE." I just can't. My body's rejecting it like a bad liver transplant.-- Bill Simmons, espn.com/page2

I agree with you in part...the Leafs are about ready to implode. Their little streak was over, I'm sure it was just enough to get their idiot fans all worked up about how this is the year, but have no fear...they're the same group of over-the-hill B-level scrubs they were last year. Oh, sorry, and Joe Nieuwendyk, who I guess is supposed to be the difference.
The Sens, though...well, they're also the same team that couldn't get it done last year...or the year before...or the year before that. They peaked a year ago and I must say, for the money they spend and the guys that they've got, they made one hell of a run at it. No team based in Canada is going to win a Stanley Cup in the NHL as it exists today, and that suits me just fine.
