This was definitely one of the five best UFC cards I've ever seen. Lots of interesting fights, almost all decisive finishes, some huge knockouts and cool submissions.

Wanderlei Silva is now officially a superstar.

Lyoto Machida is not, but hey, he's still pretty good. I'd normally think this win would earn him a title shot, but man, would UFC really want to risk this guy New Jersey Deviling his way to the championship in a division with so many top fighters?

As much as I wanted Penn to beat Sherk, it sucks that Penn already seems to have forgotten about the LW division and turned his attention to St. Pierre and Hughes. Can't he at least stick around for a few more fights against the likes of Huerta, Florian, Griffin, etc. and prove he's the undisputed best LW before moving up?

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

He always has been. The difference is that, by the way the fight looked, he's finally comfortable in the UFC octagon. Even though Jardine is basically made for Silva, it was impressive to see the complete destruction of Jardine.

It's pretty much assumed that Penn is by far the best in the division. There really isn't any reason for him to stick around and fight those fights; he has nothing to gain and everything to lose by doing so. That being said, Penn might be in for more than he can handle by moving up. Despite how impressive he was tonight, Hughes and St. Pierre don't go down like that. If, in a year's time, he's licking St. Pierre's blood off of his gloves, I'll be shocked.

So far he's 1-2 against Pierre and Hughes at 170. That said, he's about the only person out there who seemingly could give GSP a run at 170 right now short of maybe Anderson Silva deciding to cut weight.

Hamtaro misses you too!

Tito got outclassed on his way out. Hate to say I told you so... Then again, Machida's lackadaisical ground approach almost got his throat closed so no matter what my personal feelings are, Ortiz is still a beast.

Jardine is a brilliant tactician but Silva railroaded him like no one's business. To me it looked like Keith was going to execute the same plan he used on Chuck, except Liddel's a counter-poucher and Silva is an axe murderer. Wonder what Machida vs Silva would look like...

So the two greatest ground games in the 155 division meet and... box for 15 minutes? Surreal, but entertaining as hell. That knee was a KILLER.

Maybe I've been in Hawaii for too long but part of me wants to see Penn get his Ultimo Dragon on by taking out GSP, barely scraping by in a war with Silva, avenging his loss against new LH champ Machida, and dropping to 145 so he can either
a) answer the question 'Can Faber be stopped?'
b) be a super dick and assure Pulver he isn't safe anywhere
after which he can defeat new HW champ Brock Lesnar before we find out he's a Saiyan.

More seriously, Penn vs GSP now would be amazing to watch, although I still want to see Penn fight Florian and Sherk once more, on the ground.

However, I think the line to GSP is longer than most people think. Serra, Davis, Alves, Koscheck, Gouveia, and some guy named Matt Hughes might all have a say about Penn getting an instant shot.

Yep guess who won again and is in the driver's seat to win this again. So much for the "Idea" that would have The Chase and the COT's making the series Anti-Hendrick. Pts standings after race 4 (Credit NASCAR.COM)
