Tyler Reks requested and was granted his release. Wait, didn't he and Curt Hawkins just start a Magic Mike male stripper gimmick?

According to his Twitter (his real name is Gabe Tuft) (twitter.com) he wanted out for personal reasons.

Here's his classy Twitlonger exit statement:

Whole text below:

For those that don't have a FaceBook page:

I just want to say thank you to WWE, Inc. for allowing me to be part of an incredible entertainment experience. On Monday, I asked for my release and the company was gracious enough to grant my request.

I realized recently that being a Superstar means sacrificing certain things, including time with my family. As a new father, my heart broke every time I had to leave to go on the road. I didn't ever want to miss another moment with my daughter, so I made the decision to be a full time dad and hang up my boots.

I will miss everyone in the locker room tremendously as they have all become a second family to me. I want to thank my coaches and teachers that really helped me along the way: Fit Finlay, Arn Anderson, Edge, Christian, Kane, Jericho, Dr. Tom, Norman Smiley, and Billy Kidman.

I also want to thank my boys. You know who you are. Especially though, a huge thank you to Hawkins. You were like a brother to me the last year and I'll miss you and will always love you bro. I wish you the best and thanks for understanding that I had to go be a dad. When she's older, and able to realize what happened, I know Mia will thank you as well.

Thanks to all the dedicated fans of #ReksAndHawkins and to The #RekkingCrew. I would never have survived without you.

Now that's a classy goodbye.

He had his Survivor Series moment but not much else. There's still time for him to come back when his daughter is a bit older.

Seconded. I'd never be able to deal with life on the road while having a family. The main reason I never pursued becoming a professional wrestling superstar. Also I'm completely untalented.

I'll miss him. I always liked using him in WWE games.

His exit is fantastic. It takes a lot of guts to step away, and his reasons are incredibly noble.

Best of luck Gabe. See you down the road!

Yeah, it's too bad he couldn't have held a tag or US Belt or something before leaving.

Reks actually had some of the more entertaining answers on The WWE Inbox Youtube thingy. I will miss that most of all.

But now that Hawkins is "single" again, is it time to reunite the Edge Heads?

Not sure would they'd call themselves, since Edge isn't under contract anymore. Not even a Legends deal.

I guess they would just be the Heads.

Good for him! I know I wish I could spend more time with my daughter. They were wasting him anyway, which i am sure made it even harder for him.

I think you hit on the real issue. A pretty sizable chunk of the roster has kids, but I suspect that Reks was on the lowest end of the pay scale. If he were getting Cena money (or even, let's say, Kofi money), the sacrifice would seem a lot more reasonable.

He is now off of the "Guy They Don't Do Anything With" list and on to the "Guys They Never Did Shit With Until They Left/Were Fired" list. Both lists are getting bigger and bigger. And bigger.

I enjoyed him and Hawkins on NXT. Don't think he's a huge loss or anything but he could've been an enjoyable midcarder and if they had started the Magic Mike gimmick a month or so earlier so it would actually be timely I think it could've been fun. I'd very much prefer them to PTP getting the tag title shots.

I wouldn't necessarily consider the timing of his exit a coincidence.

Classy exit. I didn't see much of him, but I appreciate his noble reasons for leaving, and his heartfelt goodbyes to his friends and mentors.
