| #1 Posted on 22.9.11 0425.01 | I have only caught the show in reruns and I must say I was never a fan. It seemed like the same old story week in and week out. I never eally got the humor of it all. But out of curiosity, I tuned into to the season premiere to see how they were going to write out Charlie Sheen's character and how Ashton Kutcher would do. I sat through it all and thought it was horrible. I can;t see how this show makes it with Kutcher past one season.
Of course, and I do not think this is a spoiler since every one knows he was written out, since there was never a body for Sheen, my guess is if they irong things out, they will either do the rotten dream sequence for next year or say he faked his death to get out of debt.
Needlesstosay, this will not be required viewing in my house.

| #3 Posted on 22.9.11 1047.41 | Instant Rating: 7.46 | I'd say that the episode wasn't as funny as I had expected, but I wouldn't say that it was terrible. Ashton Kutcher can be pretty funny, and Chuck Lorre has certainly proven himself, so while the Walden Schmidt character may have been a little flat, I'll definitely give it time. I really don't think one episode is a realistic sample size for a show that's been pretty entertaining for eight seasons. The ancillary characters are great, and should be able to bridge any gap for this show (or audience) to "adjust".Originally posted by Wpob they will either do the rotten dream sequence for next year or say he faked his death to get out of debt.
I suppose Rose would have to be in on it with him if he "faked his death", since it was implied that she pushed him out in front of an oncoming train. | It's False

Yes they do, though I remember in one episode, they parodied that to say 'squab' or something like that after every transition.
I don't know; I was hoping that the fact that Charlie got married to Rose would have been a good enough ending for the character of Charlie if the producers weren't so vengeful, IMO. It was already enough of a death, it being Charlie's bachelorhood; they could had played the funeral scene without Rose and have it be about burying his black book or something.

| #7 Posted on 22.9.11 1938.16 | He was with Rose in France and they got married and a few days later she found him in a shower with another woman. She said it was OK. But the next day he "slipped" and fell in front of a train and exploded like a meat pinata. And Berta (the maid) said "dont cross a crazy woman". The implication is Rose killed him.

Heh. This is like me starting a thread about Indian food, or CRZ starting a thread about Cajunman.
I wonder how it's ratings were seeing as how there are two people in this very thread who just tuned in because there was a new face.
I missed the episode, but I usually catch the show in reruns anyhow. I will say the humor is tongue in cheek and Charlie Sheen really wasn't the comedic zing of the show.

So when you extrapolate the new viewership on this board to the whole country, you get...carry the 1... 28 million people! (tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com) Most viewed scripted premiere in six years. Next week: Biggest week-to-week drop in viewers in forever.

Wow. it went from 1/3 of a message board thread to 28 mil pretty quick.
You really think they'll pull an XFL? Frankly, I could concieve (though definitely not hope, I like the show) the same happening with the Office this year as well with Steve Carrell's departure.

On a bit of a tangent, has there ever been a TV season like this where multiple shows are going on without their lead characters?
Two and a Half Men - No Charlie Sheen The Office - No Steve Carrell Law & Order: SVU - No Christopher Meloni
I can't imagine any of these shows surviving long without their lead characters, but then again, I'm always surprised by Two and a Half Men's ratings.

The difference with SVU is that Meloni wasn't the only lead, and they've dealt with Hargitay leaving (mat leave) before.
Plus they brought back MICHAEL CUTTER from the old show, which is a nice touch.
After a (very) long hiatus, I have begun to write again. And this time, I'm not alone!
