I didn't know quite where to put this. There isn't even an icon to use, but I thought it was an interesting blurb about how big companies feel about their people using Twitter.

From ESPN's Ric Bucher

I'm probably violating some sort of policy just by telling you. In any case, stay tuned.

My guess is I can still tweet about my vacation/car shopping, etc. Which I will do, if I can. But the informal NBA talk is prob in jeopardy.

Pretty lame, it was cool seeing these guys just post random thoughts and speculation on random sports topics.

It's the same schizophrenic idea in the actual sports leagues.

Chargers CB Antonio Cromartie was fined by the team for complaining about the food the team serves on twitter.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/08/04/source-chargers-fine-cromartie-for-twitter-complaint/

It's frankly ridiculous. How is saying that the training camp food is bad a fineable offense? (with the caveat that of course any business is free to set any restrictions on their employees within the law. in other words, I know it's legal, but it's also asinine.)

The $2,500 is probably about less than 1% of his contract. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it, and I doubt he will either.

I heard a radio interview from an ESPN basketball writer last week (maybe Bucher?) where he said he was going to volluntarily stop doing work/sports-related tweets because sports blogs kept quoting his off-the-record, just-for-kicks tweets as "breaking news", then he gave an example where he would speculate about a team's possible choice for a new coach and websites like hoopshype.com would report it as if he was REPORTING that so-and-so is getting hired as the new coach of said team.

I can't see why it would. Simmons really doesn't break any news, he did have the mini feud and minor freak out on Mike Dunleavy. His whole thing is random observation on the insane amout of television he watches, pop culture, and the few events he goes to. Sports just happens to be the base for everything.

What he actually should watch out for is over exposing himself . At least he stopped writing for The Magazine.

That is a good reason to scale back. Too many bad breaking news stories could hurt credibility and connections with sources.

I think it might have been more for him criticizing the team by comparing their Super Bowl-building efforts to the crappy food.

One of the australian cricketers was in the outhouse last week for tweeting that he had been dropped from the starting XI before the final team had been released by management.

Here's a linky if anyone is interested:

Then again, ESPN is the master of stealing someone else's report and claiming ESPN has learned.

Apparently Facebook is experiencing slowdown too.

EDIT: Apparently, one account on Twitter and Facebook (among other places) was the target of the attack. A blogger in the Georgian Republic.

Speaking of Twitter problems, I noticed today that (not everytime but sometimes) I'll try to visit the site and Firefox will give me the old "Firefox prevented this URL from directing to another site" warning (boy, it sure would be helpful if Firefox would just let me know WHERE the site is redirecting to, wouldn't it?) ... Has anyone else experienced this?

Santino continued his tradition of coming down to the ring, being ten times funnier and more interesting than the other guy, and then getting his ass beat. He said to Rey Rey "anyone who a wears a mask eesa either incredibly ugly, incredibly stupid or...eesa the batman!" Man, if this guy could only wrestle he'd be King Korn Karn by now. Can't post back to back, but here's a little nugget from Simmons

sportsguy33But seriously... Couldn't this Pitino thing have happened before ESPN released its twitter policy??? I am so bitter.

Hey, I haven't really researched this since I don't use WinAmp all that often any longer, but I noticed this in the weekly Secunia alerts... So, you may want to look into this if you use WinAmp. //edit: I see. This has been updated.
