Yes, leet's all go back to the living room floor and enjoy the reminicing, shall we? I'd rather have my fond memories of the Balcktop Bully and Dustin Rhodes on the back of a semi going down the road than of a Nielson box.

Since all of Pro-Wrestling is a story, in my opinion it's just very very hard for anyone else's narrative to compete with Vince's just because he has accrued the most "legitimacy".

To the average viewer, and even sentimentally to people like me, WWF and WCW are what Pro-Wrestling was made of for the past 30 years. And now WWF and WCW and even ECW are just parts of the WWE's heritage and narrative; who can compete with that? You need that fictional legitimacy.

To me this means Vince is the major leagues for the foreseeable future.

The internet is pretty powerful though, who knows what can happen.

Well the NWA is still floating around out there. You could build a new promotion off that like TNA did.

TNA now and WCW 20 years ago; NWA has a bit of that "We are the legit Pro Wrestling Body" shine that makes for a good launch platform at least.

But unless the perfect storm happens like it did with WCW, won't anything launched by or from NWA just be another second-tier sideshow like TNA?

Well for anyone to even come close to being competitive it would require major investors, but you could do worse than licensing the NWA name (or hell, how much would it take to just buy it?).
