I keep forgetting to do this. I think it's indicative of how little new programming there is. Swingtown's rating keeps going down somehow. You'd think it would reach its nadir at some point. Friday Night Smackdown gave The CW the win on Friday night. Smackdown was only down 20% among 18-49 year olds for the holiday, while all other Friday night programming were down at least 40%. I don't know what that means, I just thought it was interesting.
THIS WEEK IN TV
Monday-ABC is all The Bachelorette tonight, with the 2-hour finale followed by "After The Final Rose". NBC has new episodes of American Gladiator and Nashville Star. ABC was originally going to air one more episode of The Bachelorette next week, entitled "Engagement Party", but it will no longer air.
Tuesday-ABC's got Wipeout, I Survived A Japanese Game Show, and Primetime: Outsiders. FOX has the finales of The Moment of Truth and Hell's Kitchen. FOX has the MLB All-Star Game next week and then switches to reruns of Kitchen Nightmares and House the week after. NBC has new episodes of Celebrity Family Feud and America's Got Talent. If you're a fan of NBC comedies, you might be interested in that Celebrity Family Feud. It features The Hickeys from "My Name Is Earl" (Earl, Randy, Joy, Darnell, and Catalina; competing for the Family Crisis Resource Center), vs. The Camden County All-Stars (competing for New Hope Housing of Alexandria, VA), and The Office (Kevin, Phyllis, Creed, Meredith, and Oscar; competing for the Children's Advocacy Center of Northeast Pennsylvania) vs. The American Gladiators (Laila Ali, Wolf, Venom, Titan, and Jet; competing for the Women's Sports Foundation and USA Cares).
Wednesday-ABC has Primetime: Crime, FOX has So You Think You Can Dance, NBC has The Baby Borrowers and Celebrity Circus.
Thursday-there's Hopkins on ABC. I made fun of CBS for not having any new programming, and they responded with Greatest American Dog (along with Swingtown) on Thursdays. GAD is exactly what it sounds like: a reality contest about dogs. FOX has Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? and So You Think You Can Dance. NBC has Last Comic Standing.
Friday-ABC's poorly rated Friday night lineup of Dance Machine, Duel, (and also 20/20) airs. CBS has the series premiere of Flashpoint. The CW has Friday Night Smackdown (12 episodes left on The CW). And FOX airs 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Sunday-CBS has 60 Minutes and the premiere of the summer session of Big Brother. NBC reminds you that they've got this guy on CNBC named Jim Cramer that you may find amusing. In this special (The American Dream with Jim Cramer) he talks to NASCAR stars about making money. After that, it's the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant.
Really enjoyed it. I'm also (even more) interested in seeing Sorkin's play about Philo Farnsworth and the invention of TV, which apparently touches on some of the same themes. In terms of Oscarness, I'm not really feeling any acting nominations.
