The difference between airing after Deal or No Deal on Monday and airing on Friday? Apparently 1/3 less viewers.
Likewise, the difference between not airing after House, and airing after House, like Fringe did? 1/3 more viewers.

If a show isn't starting this week, here's why:
* The rest of NBC's Monday night lineup is delayed until next week because this week is all Heroes. The night starts with Countdown To The Premiere, a behind-the-scenes show, and is followed up with the two-hour 3rd-season premiere.
* Both Monday and Tuesday's Dancing With The Stars are two-hour episodes, prempting Samantha Who? and Eli Stone.
* On Tuesday, ABC's Dancing With The Stars starts with a two-hour 7th-season premiere, and indeed, the first 3 Tuesday episodes are all two-hours, which is why Eli Stone doesn't come back until October 14th.
* ABC's Wednesday lineup consists of a special Wednesday episode of Dancing With The Stars and a two-hour special David Blaine: Dive of Death. Darn it, he's like Rasputin! You'll have to wait until next week for Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money.
* ABC, CBS, and NBC are choosing to only premiere some of their programming this Thursday, as the 9 pm to 11 pm hour is going to be prempted next week by the Vice Presidential Debates, and they'd rather wait to premiere some shows until after that. So we've got Survivor and Grey's Anatomy with special two-hour premieres, and then My Name Is Earl and The Office having special one-hour premieres. There are also the normal premieres of Ugly Betty and ER. Life On Mars, Eleventh Hour, CSI, Kath & Kim, and SNL Thursday Night Live are all not premering until October 9th.
UPDATE: This week's Hole In The Wall has been replaced with a second new episode of Kitchen Nightmares. That might mean it's been preempted. Time will tell. They ordered 26 episodes and have aired 6 so far, so that'd be pretty bad.
* There are no premieres this Friday because the first of the scheduled Presidential Debates airs from 9 to 11 on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. The debate is being held at the Gertrude C. Ford Center on the University of Mississippi campus, and is moderated by PBS' Jim Lehrer. There are new episodes of 20/20 (airing at a special 8:00 time), Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?, America's Toughest Jobs, and Friday Night Smackdown (last episode on The CW). CBS is using that 8:00 hour to replay the pilot of The Mentalist, which aired on Tuesday.
* The Saturday Night Football game is either Illinois @ Penn State or Virginia Tech @ Nebraska, depending on your location. Sunday Night Football is Philadelphia vs. Chicago.

It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects.
