SPECIALS:
The Bachelor: After The Rose scored a 4.2 in the demo, which is even with the season finale proper that aired on Monday.
The special two-hour Deal or No Deal on Wednesday did a 2.8 in the demo. This is below the ratings from when Deal Or No Deal regularly aired in Wednesday. I think this is because of the poor lead-in support of Phenomenon, which thankfully is now over.
The season premiere of October Road did a 4.2 overall and a 2.3 in the demo on Thursday. Even considering that ratings were down 30% because of the holiday, that ranks it below what Big Shots was getting in the same timeslot. And who premieres a show on a holiday anyway?
The Thursday battle of the movies was won by The Incredibles, which scored a 3.9 overall and a 2.6 in the demo. Dodgeball came in second with a 2.4 overall and a 1.5 in the demo, and Raise Your Voice on The CW brought up the rear with a 0.8 overall and a 0.4 in the demo. Both The Incredibles and NBC's Friday airing of The Family Man were in line with normal ratings in that time period, given the holiday.
It was a good week for football on network television. I bet ABC wishes they could have two top 5 teams playing each other every week on Saturday Night Football. Ratings should be good again for the Big 12 championship game, with Missouri looking for a win to get them into the BCS National Championship, and Oklahoma looking for a win to put them in the Fiesta Bowl. NBC's Sunday Night Football, meanwhile, which saw Philadelphia come up just short against New England, set a season high in viewers.
THIS WEEK IN TV:
A lot of changes are afoot on ABC Monday nights. Samantha Who?, October Road, and Notes From The Underbelly all move into their new Monday night timeslots this week. Next week they will by joined by Dance War, a 6 episode Dancing With the Stars spin-off.
A Charlie Brown Christmas airs this week. The Charlie Brown movies have gotten about double what Carpoolers and Cavemen were getting in the same timeslot.
Two and a Half Men will have its last new episode (until the strike ends) tonight.
Boston Legal is preempted by the 2-hour season finale of Dancing With The Stars. Will it be Melanie Brown, Helio Castroneves, or Marie Osmond who gets the win?
Back To You is preempted by a 2nd episode of 'Til Death airing Wednesday night. On ABC, Shrek The Halls, a Shrek holiday special; and How The Grinch Stole Christmas are airing in Pushing Daisies' timeslot. Pushing Daisies then airs in Private Practice's timeslot. NBC is airing the special Christmas in Rockefeller Center in what used to be Phenomenon's timeslot.
On Friday, ABC's lineup is preempted by The Polar Express. See the Uncanny Valley in action!
CBS, meanwhile, has preempted Ghost Whisperer and Moonlight for a special called My Night At The Grammys, which covers 25 of the greatest Grammys moments ever (apparently there was voting, but if you're just hearing about it now, you missed it), and the stories behind them. Click here to see the top 50 that people could vote for. The only ones I really remember are SOY BOMB (which had no video on the website), and Eminem & Elton John performing Stan.
NBC is airing Radio City Music Hall's 75th Anniversary Special on Saturday.
Sunday night, ABC is prempting Cold Case and Shark for Hallmark Hall of Fame's Pictures of Hollis Woods. It stars Sissy Spacek, Alfre Woodard, and James Tupper, and is based on the Newbery Honor award-winning book written by Patricia Reilly Giff. If you miss it, I'm sure you'll be able to see it on the Hallmark Channel before too long.
Reruns this week include Rules of Engagement, The Big Bang Theory, Grey's Anatomy, Ugly Betty, CSI, Without A Trace, Smallville, Supernatural, The Office, Numb3rs, Don't Forget The Lyrics, Family Guy, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons. All the reruns on Thursday don't bother me, because I'll be watching Green Bay vs. Dallas on my local CBS affiliate.| Promote this thread! |           |
