| #2 Posted on 5.9.02 1733.34 | it's only gonna dissapear because everybody says it will, and therefore refuses to spend $10 a week (or every other week even) to see some of the best wrestlers not in the WWE. If WWE is so bad, you'd think that everybody would be clamoring to see something new, but instead it seems as if everybody is content to sit back and bitch about WWE without making any sort of effort to watch any other type of wrestling.

What I take issue with is the non stop complaining about the WWE, and the lack of any sort of effort to find an alternative. It ain't that hard. And you expect the WWE to take the internet crowd seriously, when all they do is watch every week and then bitch about it. They still get you to watch, so why should they change? It's not like you guys are going anywhere else.

Quick points:
1) The internet crowd, especailly people on this board, doesn't bitch when the WWE puts on good shows. The past 2 Raws have not been good, hence the complaining.
2) I think a good number of people have found alternatives to the WWE since the ratings have been steadily declining for 2 years. It just isn't wrestling. | Tom Dean

| #7 Posted on 6.9.02 0010.42 | I still don't see what your point is. You seem to be saying "Oh, yeah, it's gonna fold, but that's only because there isn't sufficient interest in it." Is that argument supposed to elicit sympathy for their cause?? How can you blame people who have no interest in it for not having interest in it? Either they haven't put a good enough product out there, they haven't done a good enough job advertising it, or WWE is an unstoppable juggernaut and there's no hope for it.
Is the damn thing good, or not? That is the only relevant thing. WWE has nothing to do with it. WWE being bad doesn't make NWA-TNA good, just like like "Baby Bob" being bad doesn't make NWA-TNA good, just like "The Sopranos" being good doesn't make NWA-TNA bad. I haven't seen NWA-TNA, so I have no idea whether it's any good or not, but I know they haven't convinced me to put down $10 on it yet and I'm not gonna do so just to try to prove a point to a third party. My goal is to enjoy myself, not to "get the WWE to take the Internet crowd seriously."

| #8 Posted on 6.9.02 0052.01 | My point is that something new, relatively cheap, and GOOD (even though I like the WWE as well) comes along, and everyone just sits around and says it's gonna suck and fail without even bothering to give it a chance. It's also a prime example of how most internet wrestling fans seem to not wanna' do anything but bitch about how shitty the WWE. Instead of actually seeking out a viable alternative, they say it's 2nd rate and ignore it, content to watch RAW each week and proclaim it the worst RAW ever each week. Yeah, it's a different style from the WWE, but if the WWE sucks so much, then what style of wrestling do you want? Very few people on this board are watching puro or lucha, and it doesn't seem like too many go to indy shows, so what the hell are you looking for?
The point is that you guys act like you're somehow better fans than "marks," yet all you do is bitch about the largest wrestling company in the world, and act like everything else is complete shit and not worth your time. That doesn't like a fan at all to me. If WWE is so awful, stop watching it and try something else for a change.

| #9 Posted on 6.9.02 0845.51 | Instant Rating: 0.00 | You really should give Kaiju a try. Yes, it is guys dressed up as monsters and yes the wrestling value is not on par with the WWE but it is entertaining and quickly gaining in popularity in the northeast. They update the storylines on a fairly regular basis through the website and the shows are a blast.
Last year they put on a show as a part of a rave in New York and this year sold out the Warsaw in Brooklyn without any major press, just word of mouth. They plan on coming back in the fall for another battel which should be a lot of fun.
If you have a chance, check it out. A lot of indepentant promoters could learn a lot from how they put on shows in terms of educating the audience about the product, creating a fun athmosphere, and getting you to come back again and again.

| #10 Posted on 6.9.02 1330.01 | Ah, but you have to realize that part of Kaiju's appeal is the fact that it's a small market. Kaiju only exists in the Northeastern (as far as I know) United States, so living down here in the south, I'll jump on the first opportunity I have to go see what it's all about. But what if it was offered nationally for FREE on Cable week in and week out? Well, then I'd probably get my fill, and the appeal from something you never or rarely see goes way down. If I liked it a lot, yeah I'd probably pay for the live shows. But if I didn't? Well I'd just be one of many who were overexposed and probably buy tickets.

And once everybody starts wearing Kaiju T-shirts, then I wouldn't buy one for myself. Just a thought.

*sigh* You sound like one of the UnAmericans.
This has come up repeatedly. We enjoy the product, in general, but when we aren't happy with what we are seeing, we criticize and complain in the hopes that the product gets better, and more to our liking. It's that whole free speech thing. Yes, plenty of people have stopped watching, as the ratings prove. I personally don't watch Raw, because it hasn't proven itself to be worth it. But complaining about people complaining is just masturbatory. Your complaints are even worse than the original criticisms.
Again, all IMHO.
