| #1 Posted on 18.12.10 1627.24 | Not being a fan of Tron by any means, I went in with the lowest of expectations beyond pretty colors and light cycles. Those expectations were met, and then exceeded. Color me surprised, I had a really good time. I thought it was fun. Tron Legacy hit me right square in my nerd zone and left me in the warm, glowing, warming glow of The Grid.

My friend did a double take so fast I thought he snapped his neck. Due to Disney pulling the original film everywhere I have a vague memory of this film, so I may see it. I guess its like seeing 2001 for the first time if you see it in IMAX. The only good thing I heard rumor to come out of this film if its a success is that Bruce Boxlieter may have enough demand that he could help push through another B5 project. JMS left a cryptic message that said ask me in April.

| #4 Posted on 19.12.10 0820.30 | Instant Rating: 5.03 | I thoroughly enjoyed the film, although I had one minor problem with it. While I was absolutely overjoyed to see that the one thing I remembered about the original movie (Tron himself is virtually invincible) was maintained in Legacy, the narrative arc really suggested to me that he was going to play a bigger part in the conclusion, and I would have really liked to have seen that. Other than that I really have nothing bad to say about the film.
Oh, and you're absolutely right John. All the real-world stuff at the beginning of the film is way less plausible than anything that happens on the Grid. | SchippeWreck

"Pulling" is not exactly the right word. The last edition of the film was released on DVD in 2002. It had since gone out of print, but interest in the sequel over the last few months created a demand and all the remaining copies sold out. (I could easily find a copy as recently as August.) Instead of re-releasing the old DVD, Disney is working on a remastered DVD/Blu-Ray, but it won't be out until 2011.
I believe he's referring to the speculation that Disney held back re-releasing the original out of fear that it would impact the box office of Legacy.

Completely surprised that it's not available on iTunes.
We bought advance tickets to Tron: Legacy for the only IMAX theatre in Calgary so we're going on Thursday. To be honest, I am really only interested in the visual effects so as long as those are cool, I'll be satisfied. | Mr. Boffo

I've heard that any stores that do have any inventory left have been told by Disney that they are not to sell said inventory. And yeah, the speculation I heard is that they think if people watch the original Tron (which remember, came out in 1982, and probably looks pretty cheesy by today's standards), they thought it would sour people on wanting to see the new movie. | Lise

So, the DVD release in 2002 should have been a reasonable time before the new movie came out, but they scrapped the movie that was in pre-production at the time. | odessasteps

So, is it now considered an "expensive" OOP DVD in secondary markets like ebay?
