I read somewhere that the Trio channel will start airing old reruns of "Late Night with David Letterman", and one of the most underrated shows ever, "TV Funhouse."

What kind of channel is Trio? It sounds like a channel that I can enjoy.

I stumbled across Trio on my digital cable system a few months ago. Mostly, it seems they play music-related programming. (at least in the evenings) I caught a pretty cool program on the NO Jazz Fest a few weeks ago and just this past weekend they were showing some Elton John concert.

We had Trio a while ago for a few months before Our Unnamed Cable Providers (thanks AT&T) decided to jack it and give us this Discovery Health & Glue channel... anyhow, yeah, mostly music now like Simba said, but they used to show DEGRASSI. For real.

As an example, listing for the next two days include shows about fashion, Neil Young and Cat Stevens concerts, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In (...wow), and Sessions At West 54th featuring k.d. land & Ani DiFranco.

So uh, Bravo minus Sundance times E! divided by Showtime For Women.

Thanks for reminding me how our cable company STILL hasn't dropped MuchMusic, depite turning into the World's Shittiest Music Video Channel. They play the same stuff as MTV, even though the only reason to watch them is the legally mandated 30% minimum Canadian content. When are they giving us MTV2, again? -_- We just got Bravo a few months ago, too. Yeah, Cox is a little behind the curve.

Sorry to report, but MTV2 kinda sucks now, too. They don't play the overwhelmingly teenybopper stuff (boybands, Britney Aguilera and the like), but they pretty much play the same stuff MTV plays now. We used to have MTVX, which was the rock station - 24 hour rock/metal videos with no commercial breaks, stopping only for the occasional Metallica concert, but they dumped that for MTVJ which is, obviously, 24-7 Ja Rule.

Well, when I'm at my internship, we pretty much watch that all day. It isn't that bad, from what I've seen.

They haven't played that many obscure videos in a while. Instead they've focused on hip-hop and news shows. The last time MTV2 was interesting was 24 Hours of Courtney Love. While I could care less about Ms. Love, she did play a lot of good videos.

Last weekend, they played a lot of Nirvana probably because of the greatest hits out today. That Nirvana special at MTV Studios is pretty good.

Trio freakin' RULES...if only for the Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In reruns. F'n priceless...although they're never consistent in when they rerun the...uh, reruns.

Still, putting that show on my TV is a good damn thing.

Trio's currently on their third format. They started out as a US outlet to show original CBC programming like "DaVinci's Inquest", "Side Effects", "Degrassi", and the occasional "Beachcombers" reruns (from the last three seasons unfortunately). Then they were repackaged as an outlet for B-dramas and documentaries from CBC as well as other global outlets. Now they're focused on the arts. They used to be co-distributed in the states with Much, Bravo, and Newsworld International. I believe they're now co-owned with USA.

Oh God, I don't mind you not liking MTV2 and Much but 24 hours of love was NOT interesting, it was goddamned awful. She showed her boob and said "fuck" in the first half hour, and THAT was the goddamn highlight. Whoever keeps giving Courtney Love a chance to be on my television should be shot.

And who told MTV that they should take off MTVX for MTV Jams? If I wanted that, I would just watch MTV (since most of their videos are hip-hop and R&B). Rock music seems to only get one hour of MTV airtime (the show hosted by the Good Charlotte brothers).

I want MuchMusic now, because anything has to be better than MTVJ!

...you would think that. But most of Much's music is... well, the exact same stuff you'd see on MTV. It was great before turning into MMUSA.

It's okay, I like PB1 better like AngryJohnny said it just has a amplified after taste. Of course it's Mountain Dew and I'll try anything they put out.
