    The Nets' motive for the deal was to get under the tax level to sign Tim Thomas if and when the Bulls buy out his contract.

Former Portland Trail Blazers center Kevin Duckworth, a member of the Blazers' Western Conference championship teams in 1990 and 1992, passed away yesterday at the age of 44 while on a trip to the Oregon coast to host a free basketball clinic.
