Possible- possible. Personally, I think the news jumped a little too all over that one. But something like that WAS a good propoganda tool- people were likely confused and unsure, and watching that statue topple would be a great victory for propoganda there. So they wanted to control it?

Could have been faked, but I am not so sure that it really matters in the long term... there is enough footage of other, similar acts, and I seriously doubt all of them could have been staged.

Hell, maybe they planned it, and did NOT want the masses pouring into the area because of the safety hazzard of this huge statue crashing down on a throng of people...

I think Grimis is on the right track with his names. Except for Bush the Elder, the American public hasn't elected as "insider" since Johnson (not counting re-election). And Bush senior won because he ran against a very weak candidate.
