| #1 Posted on 5.10.04 1321.32 | Instant Rating: 7.29 | OpenSecrets.org has the list of the top 50 in terms of receipts. Here are the top 20

It is so ironic that the Democrats complain about the Swift Boat Vets as a 527 considering all but three of the above support predominately Democratic Candidates. The top seven, (before you get to Club for Growth at 8) have raised $143 million...

I mean, I haven't heard any complaints anyway about their existence, just the content, though I'm sure there are people you could quote.
Personally, as an activist with the Sierra Club, I'm happier with the lots of little contributions we get then having a group supported by a few large donations. We just have a lot of members. | Grimis

Of course, that assumes that you think the Swifties are lying...the same can be said about Soros and Co. too. What you see depends on where you sit. It really picked up with some of the libs after the Swifties came along. Especially the "funded by a rich Texas Republican" thing, mildly ingoring the $15 million plus Soros has spent.

Sure, I wasn't arguing whether the ad was true, just that's the issue more people I've talked to have with the ad, rather then it being a 527.

Well, that's always been the criticism of the Republican Party, that they're the party of the rich, so I don't see this as a new charge.
And you're correct about Soros, and many other donors to the Democratic Party. There's a whole lot of rich Democracts donating, which is why I'm a liberal not voting for Kerry or Bush.
Also why simply lumping liberals in with Democrats doesn't always work. | StaggerLee

How much are Kerry and his wife worth?
