You know, every so often something like this comes up, like with the new ECW and the guys they signed for that, and I'm like, "Hey, this could be really awesome, I used to love those guys." Then I remember that was ten years ago. Now, I not only feel old, but I also wonder if 2Cold Scorpio is bringing anything to the table.
This is really cool. Scorp was always one of the more fun guys to watch. I was always shocked he wasn't signed before or at least at any of the ONS. I'd say he'd be good for SD, as SD is more focused on wrestling and he'd be good to throw in for eight-ten minute matches every week (akin to what they're doing with Tatanka.) I think this could be a Finlay-like comeback, if he can go at even half his usual speed.
Anyone seen his NOAH stuff recently?
Also, when I think of Scorp I can't help but remember what Foley wrote in "Have A Nice Day."
Apparently, WWE is quietly doing this for a number of guys as an extension of sorts to the Legends contracts. Signing guys that can still work to do occasional spots for the main rosters and help out with OVW and DSW. Duggan, Armstrong and I think maybe Marty Jannetty are currently on similar deals.
Scorpio has always been hit and miss with me. I guess I prefer the crash and burn style of Jeff Hardy and Sabu over Scorpio's oldschool WCW style, but when he really puts forth the full effort he is worth a look.
I did not witness the PPV as it happened and I haven't watched everything across the three discs yet, so I can't comment on any possible crowd noise alteration. However, it is on sale for 15 bucks at Circuit City this week so it was pretty hard to resist....
