Shocking to find out that Chong (story.news.yahoo.com) is involved with drugs. hahahaa

But he *was* careful not to sell to minors, though.

Can someone explain to me why exactly this is illegal, particularly since he wasn't selling them to minors? They sell bongs, pipes and other paraphernalia at smoke shops and that's legal. This really doesn't make much sense.

Well, pot paraphernalia IS illegal. That is the reason that any head shop that is run by someone halfway intelligent will kick you out if you even utter the word bong.

They sell "Tobacco Water Pipes."

Bongs can be used to smoke tobacco- but that is not so much a cultural thing here as it is in other placed in the world. Everyone KNOWS they are being sold for pot, but because they do not actually sell the drug, and assertivly sell them as being for tobacco, they could get away with it.

Who knows where Chong slipped up... then again, his image was likely working against him there...

There was a thread about its legality in the Politics forum a while back: http://wienerboard.com/thread.php/id=9951#120815

Can't says I really agree with the argument against legality right enough, but I kinda see where its coming from.

This is espically hilarious to read for me, since this reminds me of a Chong encounter I recently had. Back in October I was home in Norcross for a weekend and the local porno/smoke store had Chong there for a day to take pics and sign autographs. One of my friends and I couldn't pass up the opprotunity to see friggin Chong, so we went in and for 5 bucks each got a signed polaroid taken with the famous stoner. Well, the funny thing is there were signs telling this, and workers walking around informing everyone of this--if you bought a Chong Bong, you got another free autograph on anything you wanted. The fact that next to his singing table was a huge thing of bongs called Chong Bongs and that the guy was pitching them to everyone says that its no surprise he would get caught sooner or later.

Was that the infamous "Love Shack" on P'tree Parkway in Norcross? I used to work near there. We'd go over there on our lunch break and laugh at the protesters...

Yes it was!! Man, the first time I went in there I was SOOOOO afraid that one of the protestors would know me or my parents (considering it was still high school, and I knew lots of people protesting). Just wondering, where did you work?

I worked (still work, albeit across the country) at a local publishing company. We'd always hit the Chic-Fil-a across the street for lunch and there were *always* protesters milling about. You know, because we can't have porn desecrating the sanctity of NORCROSS, for cryin' out loud.
