I mean, never mind the hideously lame concept. Are these commercials (and now they're on radio, too) actually supposed to get someone to think "Ah! I want to see this!" and tune in?

Din't know if it was a new episode last night but it was pretty funny again. (Eric's 'hot' cousin comes to visit and gets revenge on all the stuff he used to do to her.)

| #6 Posted on 23.1.02 1826.03 | Ya know, I imagine they want to suck people in with the gimmick, and THEN build the characters, but the reason That 70s Show has been successful is that it's not about the 70s, it's about the characters, which are funny. It being set in the 70s serves as more of the backdrop, instead of That 80s Show, where it seems like the show is way more about the 80s and less about the cast of characters.

Judging by the license plate sticker shown during the opening credits, it's 1978.

And about the PM, I never got it. I sent one today to Shane Spear and he didn't reply, even though he's been on, so I'm guessing it might not be working right now...? I'll throw an email address up in my personal prof.

| #10 Posted on 23.1.02 1955.32 | The PM thing is pretty specific about spaces and capitilazation.
I find the easiest way to use it is to click on the persons name to pull up their profile, and send it from there.
If you type it out, you MUST match Capitalization and include spaces. For instance, DrOp is not the same as drop as far as it is concerned.

Plus, the blonde on the show is Darla from Buffy/Angel, and I'm a mark for that show so I'm interested in seeing her.

| #14 Posted on 23.1.02 2201.38 | Yes but I believe that Star Wars came out what two seasons? SO you may be right...they might be in '79 though not sure.
ANyways I agree That 70's Show is more about the characters then the 70's...it is just a back drop they use. (And of course the staple of the show is the pot-smoking circle )

They did one episode at the beginning of the season that was one of those "What would the future be like?" episodes but that was it. They are still in the 70s.

| #19 Posted on 24.1.02 0946.19 | There's a show on RIGHT NOW that has worse promos than that 80's show (well, not really, but humor me). . .
The show First Monday, which debuted on TUESDAY and it's regular night is FRIDAY. Watch 1st Monday, this Tuesday, then a new episode in its regular slot this Friday.
To quote Corey Macklin "That's ridiculous"

BTW, my wife and I actually watched the first 10 mins of that 80's show last night since it came on right after the Louisville game (they lost-hee hee), and wow, could that have been any worse? The make fun of stuff that was hip in the 80's stuff would have to get old for people who never lived thru it, much less wore/used it real quick. But hey, that 70's show caught on, and I don't get that one either. | haz

Certainly the promos are more about the 80's, but I seem to remember the 70's show doing the same thing. You don't build characters in a promo...
