Honestly, I hope they don't let the think burn up- I'd really like to see them go up and retrieve that thing and have it hanging in a museum. I think the anout of data is collected, and it's place in history deserves some kind of special treatment.
Yeah, you are right, it would be something of a "waste" of money. But if your gonna send a shuttle up anyway, why not? Of course, it seems like every shuttle mission nowadays goes to the Space Station though-
I'm just guessing, but I think maybe Dean is either: 1. Playing out the string because he feels like he owes it to his supporters or 2. Looking at some secondary goal that requires that he stay in awhile longer. Here's how #2 plays out.
