So Meltzer is reporting that, after making a complete hash of it this year and having no time to do all the remaining matches, TNA is blowing off the Bound for Glory series this Thursday with three random matches and a final points tally to determine the top four. This is coming amongst reports that AJ Styles may be leaving next month when his contract expires. What the Hell is going on with them right now?

They are directionless. The sad part is they have a great crop for the BFG tournament in that any one of those guys could win. I love AJ, but if you believe WWE reports ie HHH, they have no desire in any TNA talent. Which is a shame since Beer Money and MCMG alone would bring life to the tag division as well as Joe in the Punk/Heyman feud would be marvelous.

The real problem for TNA has been getting in bed with Hogan. He has done nothing past that first night. The Aces and Eights storyline revolves too much around him. The fact that story is still going on is not good. It should have been Bully from the start and this should be over by now. No, instead we are probably going to get Hogan/Bully at BFG in some weird way.

This is really bad. BFG has been their best string of shows for years.

This is usually the time when me and TNA get back together and I think that we can do this. Of course this year has been really terrible and I haven't watched much of it, so yeah they suck at this.

I'm not sure what they can do at this point.

That's a mighty big IF, Tonto. Perhaps you recall the tampering lawsuit they filed a bit back? HHH would be a fool to not want ANY of the TNA talent, and history has shown us that while he may be many things, he's no fool.

The Bound for Glory Series usually gives their shows a real sense of focus and for weeks they've had shows where every single match on the card had a purpose, which is not something you can always say about Raw or Smackdown. As a result, the past couple of months of Impact that I watched were really pretty good in terms of being breezy and watchable, and you were always guaranteed one, if not two, good-to-great matches a week. But their backstage situation with the reported looming financial meltdown and contracts expiring and cost-cutting seems to have gotten out of hand and started to catch up with the product being put out on TV.

It's a shame, really. I thought TNA had finally found the right balance of old and new and were giving a lot of the *right* (Aries, Magnus, Roode, Storm, Bad Influence, Styles, etc.) talent the opportunity to shine.

It appears TNA ran more house shows in previous years, which would've allowed them to run more matches for the tournament. But it doesn't sound like TNA canceled a whole bunch of shows, so they should've had this planned out.

I'm stealing this from someone - the biggest problem here isn't this tournament falling apart, but that no one realized until just now that the scheduling was messed up. It's a detail failure for TNA, but it's also an inability to make people care about this tournament enough to notice it was about to careen off a cliff.

Perhaps you recall the tampering lawsuit they filed a bit back? HHH would be a fool to not want ANY of the TNA talent, and history has shown us that while he may be many things, he's no fool.

Meltzer also says this is most likely case: WWE is hesitant to sign TNA guys because of the previous issues. There is a little wiggle room - WWE could sign someone if they desperately want them, but AJ is probably just someone they would like to have.

The real problem for TNA is it's TNA. Hogan is not a positive contributing force for TNA in any meaningful way, but he certainly isn't the reason this company hasn't been able to create a single star in ten years. And I mean an actual star people know. If I had a BBQ and AJ Styles showed up, I don't have a single friend who would recognize him. They continue to employ Kurt Angle, whose life has gone completely off the rails. Dixie Carter lets people out of contracts to go wrestle on their competition's PPVs. And let's not forget the years and years of continuing to use Vince Russo, who knows nothing about anything. I want TNA to exist because its existence is good for wrestling, but it does kind of suck in its DNA, and Hogan leaving won't cure that.

I'd guess it's closer to "WWE isn't going to say publicly that they would love to sign someone, but they have a list of wants."

I wouldn't be surprised if AJ is actually on that list, if for no other reason than what it would mean emotionally to TNA to see AJ show up in WWE. I think that could be a "okay, *now* we're dead, even AJ is leaving" blow for many.

I'm interested to see if/what they do with any of the TNA talent. I mean, it's there, and it could actually bring in a slew of amazing matches, including a ROH turntable that would bring down the house in the ring, but from a creative standpoint, well, what would they do with them?

Then there's Bobby Roode, who would be, well, somethinged, for wrestling the exact same style, moves included, as HHH.

Joe is a must.

Didn't WWE get Low Ki for about a week and he screwed it up wouldn't that make some of them a bit Iffy for bringing in anyone else.

Also I can't see Joe making it to WWE, unless they pair him with the Usos. As I can't see him having any good matches except for Punk and Bryan

Technically that means he'd have good matches with their #1 and #2 face. Not a bad debut.
I'm sure Joe is capable of working with anyone on the roster.

It's sad to see TNA having so much trouble all of a sudden.
The recent releases, the money issues and now this? They basically blow off their built-in most exciting angle of the year. It's like WWE taking away the MitB briefcase just as the ppv starts.
IF a guy like AJ leaves, that might be the final coffin as far as credibility to the public but also their own roster.

Will WWE pick some guys up? Who knows.
Seeing the Dudleyz come out to help Paul Heyman will get a huge reaction I'm sure.
Other guys like Joe and AJ have to consider their options.
They might make it but it won't be easy.
WWE will definitely want to reprogram them.

Relevant AJ Styles paragraph from the WON

Believe it or not, reports from WWE say that they are not interested in him, although that could always change. WWE has a policy to not take wrestlers from TNA.

(Meltzer notes WWE did take RVD, but that was seen as a star returning and not a new person who requires reprogramming.)

a) the quick end to moody AJ was probably as much about TNA not having enough time to resolve it (just like BfG!) as much as it was Angle going to rehab.

b) AJ Styles being 36 stuns me. We're all getting old.

c) from reading that, I would place my chips on AJ leaving TNA, working indies he hasn't been able to work in for some years (including the likes of ROH & PWG), figuring out if it's sustainable, and making a quick Velvet Sky like return if it's not.

Also, to circle back to the actual original topic, TNA's story is they never claimed this year's Bound For Glory would be a round robin tournament (and I guess they meant to have people have different amounts of matches.) It's not a mistake, it's modern art.

Hogan said last night the BFG Series will include a gauntlet match next week which will give the winner 20 points, meaning the much-ballyhooed final four determined last night might be a final five.

Spoilers suggest Hogan may have not explained it so well. It's still just the top 4 guys in points, but based on the standings after that gauntlet match. Last night's Final 4 was not so final.

Is Sting really getting a title shot 6 weeks after not getting a title shot ever again, because that was how it sounded.

That too was a misspeak from Hogan. He said "title match this week!" and was supposed to say "non-title match next week!"

Someone who watched the show should probably start a proper thread about it!

If people in TNA were upset with Hogan before, it will be interesting to see how they feel now after he botched his big return promo so badly.

I thought they were going to do the right thing at the start of the show and have Bully dump Aces and keep Devon,Brooke and Tito as an enforcer and reset from there, but no onward we go.
