And sure enough, Meltzer raises the possibility of a worked shoot here, considering the parties involved. For TNA's sake, I'd really hate to think this is all a work, because at some point, you have to stop crying wolf. And with Jeff Hardy's VERY REAL problems, I don't think that's something they should be crying wolf about.
If I'm TNA and this is all real, I'd CLAIM it's an attempt at a Sheen analogue to disguise Hardy's alleged incapacitation. The best bet may be to pretend it's an act and try to cover the lack of sober thinking from everyone involved. Hardy may be dumb enough to get wasted before a PPV, but Eric and Sting got in the ring with him. Was this a Dixie call? Does she have the ability to veto booking in such an instance?
I'm going to assume Dixie was there in the building (right?). If she was there and nobody told her, then there's a major communication problem.
If she was there, and knew but let him go out there anyway; she's just careless and clueless.
Even if she wasn't there; somebody should have called her and told her what was going on.
As long as Panda Energy owns a majority stake in TNA: I don't think Dixie is going anywhere; but I can't imagine the company surviving for too much longer under her either.

Numerous TNA sources are indicating the Sting vs. Jeff Hardy PPV main event went so short due to concerns over Jeff Hardy backstage. I am sure we'll hear more about this in the days to come.
Which definitely seems par for the course when dealing with Jeffrey Hardy.
This makes me think of Allan Sherman:
You remember Jeffrey Hardy. They're about to organize a searching party.
Guy was a prophet, huh?
Can't blame TNA for booking a one-minute match when one of the ME participants is zonked out. But I can blame them massively for doing nothing to compensate. The previous two segments were a double count-out and a skit. OF COURSE you're leaving your fans feeling ripped off. Book a finish to the #1 contenders' match. (It probably should have one anyway, since it's a PPV, but especially in this circumstance.) And add a bonus match at the end. Heck, Samoa Joe wasn't on the card at all, and he's still very over with the core TNA fans. Was he there? Could you have sent him out for an extra match, either with Sting or someone else?
Jeff should be told to go to rehab, or he's out. | odessasteps

Well yeah; but on the other hand; the same people who bought the PVV aren't likely to buy the next PPV now, either. Their goal should have been to make the fans as happy as they could given the situation. | odessasteps

See, I don't know about that. As bad as this was - TNA hasn't been talked about this much in a long, long time. People love watching a trainwreck, and what happened with Jeff is exactly that. Sure, people might have been pissed, but there is a genuine interest in what the hell they are going to do next.
And since when does that team of people shy away from taking advantage of negative attention?
They could have done so much differently, but they aren't going to lose a single viewer over this. They will likely gain. | ekedolphin

Sad thing is, you're probably right. Even people who don't give a shit about Two and a Half Men now have Charlie Sheen in their public consciousness, and it's because he's turning into a fuck-up. Ditto Tiger Woods in the immediate aftermath of the accident. But TNA needs to pull Jeff Hardy from all programming immediately, and get him into rehab before he dies. Because there is no way to spin that positively. "You are boring me to death, and I'm already dead. Deaf person here, and I suspect this is pretty much jive. For instance, when Bischoff is shaking Hardy's hand and talking to him, you only see his face in profile -- and lipreading someone in profile is just about impossible. I've watched that section a dozen times and I can't pick up even one word. As for Sting, all I can say is that it *could* be "I want to see someone pay for this" he says to Bischoff, and the change between cameras as he backs away from Hardy later on makes it impossible to track what he's saying.

TNA should just fire him.
Whether or not he goes to rehab is up to him. He's a man, he makes his decisions, to somehow infer that TNA would be responsible somehow is wrong.

The cynic in me says that they're offering this because it's probably cheaper and easier than just refunding whatever people paid for the PPV, but still; it's a nice gesture on their part.
Now; all they have to do is show Jeff Hardy the door.
