They did a full video recap of the entire show after the match and went off the air at about 10:45 ET. The video recap lasted at least a few minutes.

"I agree!"

On top of everything else, I think Sting most wanted to kill Jeff after he just got up from his finisher like nothing had happened, to calmly argue the three count. Sting hated Jeff Hardy in that moment.

The X sign is a bit crazy. Like it took until the ring entrance for anyone to realize Jeff was screwed up (as if they couldn't tell when he was standing backstage waiting for his entrance.) Perhaps the cover story will be that Jeff slipped just enough climbing on to the ring to hurt himself, and so they had to call an audible.

Of course, any other wrestling company with half a brain would've shot an angle on the fly earlier in the show to replace Jeff with, say, Jeff Jarrett or Matt Hardy.

They didn't even need to shoot an angle before the match (though it would've better.) Eric could've just made a Matt/Sting or Jarrett/Sting match right after Jeff lost, and at least people would've felt like they had gotten something extra.

I would think the match was probably going to last for at least 20 minutes with a variety of run-ins. Sting did screw Jeff over since it looks like Jeff was arguing with Hebner after the 3 count. Sting has always had a reputation of being a professional, I can't see him beating the crap out of Jeff. Kurt would have broke his damn ankle and then you get into lawsuit territory as well as divide the locker room if beating the shit out of someone legit was a good thing even they were high. Sting, Eric and Earl did the right thing of a quick three count even if pissed off the fans. Now, it becomes management's problem and Sting shouldn't have any heat with anyone.

I would like to point out its being reported security had to remove Jeff from the ring. Now that could be the reason they didn't do another match was they wanted to get Jeff out without causing too many problems. It does sound like he went quietly, yet throwing more wrestlers out there or trying Jeff out may have lead to more problems. TNA should have had wrestlers outside where the fans were to do autographs and give away free stuff. That is their core base and pissing them off is not a good idea. As for the people who bought the PPV. They did get the card which minus the last match being a minute, I am on the fence about it if they should get anything. Rey/JBL was a minute at Mania and no one was screaming for their money back. It is easier to do things for a live audience then for one sitting miles away who did see the babyface keep the title. I just don't know.

Also, I think TNA is a better spot then most think. Sting is still the champ and he has contenders to fight him. Its not like when Benoit left for WWE or Vince having to change around Mania due to Lex leaving for Nitro. Its not a great place they are in, but at least the right person went over last night. I can't imagine what they would be like if Jeff won probably another Honkey Tonk Man situation with Jeff holding the belt hostage. I am not saying this is the best spot TNA has ever been in probably close to the worst, but its not as dark as people think. Jarrett was also on "honeymoon", so they couldn't use him. I am thinking most of the ME talent was gone by then or they just didn't want Jeff to go bat shit.

Thanks. I just watched it. If I didn't know what I was looking at, my first thought would be, "What the hell am I looking at?" Two greasy haired guys in black and red with paint on their faces. Conversation that did not take place:

"Hey, Stinger, what colors are you wearing tonight?"
"Black and red, same as I've been wearing for years."
"Cool, cool. I packed my black and red spandex too."
"Why'd you do that?"
"See you out there, brother."

I see your point, but Rey/JBL was about the 7th biggest match on that card and it went a minute because the show was overstuffed. We won't find out the timeline of how this whole thing played out -- although it's not the first PPV where they had to debate whether to pull Hardy from their main event -- but it's pretty close to fraudulent. The good news is they defrauded like 4000 people max.

Sorry, it was Lex spoiling it on the radio, my bad. I won't call it fraudulent, Jeff and Sting had a match, yes it was short. Its not the first time a PPV has changed to circumstances granted not the greatest reason in the world. The dirt sheets I have been scanning at this point has TNA knowing about it for awhile, so if this is true then TNA is a bunch of morons and should be held accountable for it.

I assume he's referring to Wrestlemania X, when it was rumored that Luger was slated to win the WWE Championship but that it was changed at the last minute due to Luger bragging about it in a bar the night before.

I don't think there's been anyone in the history of the business who would be stupid enough to no-show Wrestlemania. (Except for the crowd at Wrestlemania VII.)

Read it and weep, fella

Doesnt seem like Jeff wanted to get pinned there. Looks like he actually tried to kick out at 2 but Sting wouldnt let him. I've seen guys do the "I'm trying to get out but oh crap I cant do it in time" thing, but it looked like he genuinely tried to break the pin and continue the match but Sting didnt let him out.

Any chance Sting took it upon himself to end the match right then & there against Jeff's wishes?

Unlikely.

I's a reasonable guess that the quick finish is what Bischoff told Sting when they were jawing with each other before the match started.

I would assume the worst change of a match finish of the modern era was Vince changing WM 4 from a DiBiase win to a Savage win because the WWF magazine spoiled it.

Quite frankly, Jeff is lucky that Sting didn't get a couple of stiff shots in because he definitely deserved it.

If Hardy was smart (and coming out to a nationally televised event blitzed while on trial says that he *isn't* smart), he would have just taken the Death Drop, been escorted out by "security" and dealt with quietly - instead he acted like *that*.

Ironically, when Bischoff came out, you could see someone in the crowd with an "Epic Fail" sign. He can obviously predict the future.

This shouldn't come as a shock, considering TNA has signed both Hardys and also signed Angle after his WWE release (which was caused in part by Angle not wanting to go to rehab).

Sting looked pretty pissed though, and was yelling "I agree!" to the crowd, likely due to the "bull shit!" chants. I'm more curious about what the fallout with this will be.

He called me into his office, this is months and months before WrestleMania, and he goes, "Lex, you know, you're not going to be winning the belt at WrestleMania." And my ex-wife Peggy had some really good friends out of New York. Their family had kids the same age as my kids, so I wanted them there no matter what. So I said, "Vince, I just want them to go to the event with their friends. It doesn't matter. That doesn't have anything to do with me wanting tickets." So he let me know months out that I was not going to be World Champion at WrestleMania because he was worried about me flying my whole family in to celebrate me winning the title and he was courteous enough to tell me that I wasn't winning the belt. So I knew months out.

And I've heard these crazy rumors. Someone saw something on Wikipedia one time - which is not an encyclopedia. You can type in and change whatever you want that I was in a bar, messed up, telling everyone I was going to win so they didn't do it. But I was actually, the night before, not in a bar in New York saying I was going to win the World Title. I was actually staying two hours away from New York for the site of Wrestlemania at my wife's friend's house in Connecticut. So I wasn't anywhere near a bar telling people I was going to win the World Title.

So was Jeff 'removed from the ring by security' or he went cooperatively? Which is it?

And having just watched the video, wow. Would have loved to have heard what Bisch was saying to Jeff before the bout. And now definitely eager to hear the fallout.

That's the first time I've heard that version. I thought the rumor was generally that The Honky Tonk Man refused to drop the IC Title to Savage, so Vince gave him the World Title instead. Granted, the WWE Magazine version makes a lot more sense, considering Vince's history with people who refuse to drop titles when told, I was just curious as to where that story came from?

According to Pwinsider.com, TNA has made the decision to send Jeff Hardy home from this week's set of Impact tapings. Well now that's huge punishment there. The next time he shows up drugged out they'll have him sit in the corner for a time out. They really need to fire the guy.

I'm pretty sure it happened all the time "back in the day". By your logic the Von Erichs, Gino Hernendez, Hawk, most of the original ECW locker room, Shawn Michaels, Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, Eddie Guerrero, and Andre the Giant all of whom many have testified to performing at least somewhat messed up, among many others, would have had to get their asses kicked in real fights in the ring. That will never happen in wrestling, though, and it shouldn't. You can't blur that trust line between shoot and work over a few druggies, drunks, and pill-heads. Especially when the business coddled, protected, and enabled them over and over again.

And at about 3:15, you can see someone come up to the ref in the lower left corner of the ring and give him instructions.

EDIT: And I wonder if Bischoff came out just to give Sting and Hardy an explanation of what was going to go down. He was DAMN sure to keep the mic far away when he spoke with both of them.

They DID do a Jersey Shore knock off....

Man, the fact that this seems totally plausible speaks volumes about them, us as fans, and....well, me I guess.
