Jeff Jarrett gave an interview which is up on the Observer website. He realizes that the first 3 hour PPV will have to justify the $30 price tag, and promises they will deliver. There really hasnt been anything leaked as to what they are going to pull off, but in order for this to be a success, it'll have to be a mega bombshell angle, on the level of the Hogan heel turn in 96 or Tyson/Austin in 98. What could TNA have planned? I have a feeling they are going to deliver; does anyone know if Steve Austin, or Goldberg, or even Lesner are free agents that can legally appear on the PPV?

    Steve Austin

Able to, but friendly with WWE so he won't.

    Goldberg

If he's given big money, he will.

    Lesner

Unable to - can not work elsewhere for the term of his WWE deal, even if he's not working for them anymore.

Austin?

Goldberg?

Lesnar?

Working in front of 350 at Disney? No Way.

They've got no money and and what money they do have, they're wasting it on guys who won't be wrestling. And quite frankly, can't wrestle anymore. Nash, Hall and Piper.

The big suprise (according to the Observer) is Luger doing a Piper's Pit segment.

$30.00 well spent.

Did Austin just do an interview saying that their is no chance in hell (yes that was intended) of him working for TNA because of the history between him and Jarrett? I wish I remembered where he said it.

And Goldberg..maybe. I mean with Russo on his way out who knows.

It might be, if Piper accuses him of killing Elizabeth, the way he claimed Russo killed his "cousin" Owen Hart. That has trainwreck written all over it....

Austin would never do TNA. I don't care how much money they offered him, he hates the Jarretts with a passion.
Goldturd wouldnt do it either, he hates russo and any company associated with him. I've heard that there is a rumor of savage being on there, but thats just a rumor.

Angle or no Angle...probably going to get it due to the fact it isn't a WWE PPV just to see what kind of stuff there going to try. Other than Jeff vs Jeff again.

No I've known this for a while actually, but he still is extremely weary about working with them cause he doesnt trust anything Russo was involved in. Hogan got in his ear alot. I wouldnt be surprised if the surprise was sting returning.

I'll way in....TNA sucks. They really do combine the worst of WWE and WCW circa 2000-2001. They employ old guys like Luger and Piper whose star power has faded and who haven't been able to do anything resemble working in a decade plus. They've got Jarrett as a quasi-Triple H, and they don't push the small guys as stars. they don't create new stars. They had two months to build up their biggest show ever, and so far, the lineup looks pretty shitty. Congrats, TNA, you guys suck!

Agreed. What's scary is that it's compounded by what WCW did, in that they're using the same old guys from Turnerland...six years after the fact. Yikes.

I have my doubts about Luger doing the Piper's Pit segment, or at least if he'll play a major role. Last I read, TNA management (and the roster) were pissed at him for showing up late to a show and looking like he had just woken up from an alcohol/pill binge.

Hasn't Jarrett learned from the blunders of WCW? You don't go around promising a big surprise you'll likely be unable to deliver.

At least he didn't say "There's nothing Vince McMahon can do about it."

Even though Russo is born again...I'm still holding out hope for a swerve from him.

I still think TNA is going to do some form of the Millionaires Club vs. New Blood considering who they are bringing in.

I'll be buying it -- despite Nash, Hall, Luger, Piper, and Russo, not because of them. I love the tag teams and the X Division. I'm hoping that there won't be TOO much emphasis on the old guys; that they're there to bring in buys, and then the actual wrestling-type guys will take center stage.

The build-up has been super-weak, and I don't have particularly high hopes, but I enjoy giving them money.

Yeah, that's kind of S.O.P. for TNA, huh? Eh.

I feel like TNA goes about things the wrong way. I have never watched it, save for a match or two I downloaded off Kazaa out of curiosity, and here's what it looks like to me. Who are the guys I hear about? Jeff Jarrett. Road Dogg. Raven. Jeff Hardy. To a casual observer, it looks like "Oh look, it's a new federation that keeps taking all the guys that WWE doesn't want anymore." Because of that, it makes them seem inferior, a refuge for castoffs and jobbers.

Now, I am intelligent enough to say "WWE doesn't always know what to do with a wrestler, and so maybe TNA will." But the average wrestling fan, to whom (no offense) I don't give all that much credit for brainpower, is probably not going to see it that way.

Luger on the Pit?!?!
That's going to be awesomely awful thing.
If Piper just ripped into him for being the overrated fraud and can't-miss yet did miss in a spectacular way prospect that he is this could be good.
I'm shocked Luger would sign off on this.

This can only end badly

The concept of a surprise on PPV makes no sense. On a TV show promising a surprise to keep viewers and build up an audience throughout the night makes sense. On a PPV, why would people shell out money when the odds are the surprise is going to be a dud? And, suppose by some miracle the world becomes flat and hell freezes over and it is Austin. Wouldn't more people buy the PPV knowing he was on it in advance than hoping maybe it is him turning up rather than the Gobbledygooker? The Hogan turn in '96 didn't help the buyrate of Bash at the Beach, it was the months afterwards that built up WCW. Tyson being at Mania wasn't a surprise, it was something they advertised heavily and used to get mainstream attention in order to get out of the #2 position.

I think the major problem for TNA is the booking of Jeff Jarrett. He is not someone you build a company around. He has and will always be a lower mid card level talent. He has no real charisma and he is killing a company full of good wrestlers. AJ styles, Ron Killings, Amazing Red and all of the X-Division could carry the show. Even the Ex-WWE talent which I'm sure will be plenty after this week is over, can be used to make the show better. They have Spanky, already and he could be put in the main event easily if they wanted to build a good fued with him and Killings. As long as the Jarretts put themselves ahead of the product, it will always be a joke.
