Hulk Hogan was just on the Ultimate Fighter Finale, and with Dixie Carter and Eric Bischoff with him, announced that TNA is going to Monday nights effective January 4th.
I think they're nuts, but hey, all the power to them.
I have heard from various sites that might also be the same night Rock guest hosts. So, I expect a huge Raw rating, but if TNA can pull above a 1.2 then its a victory. I intend to flip back and forth while remembering the good old days of Monday Nights.
TNA's Facebook: "TNA "IMPACT!" WILL BE LIVE ON MONDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 4 ON SPIKE TV: On tonight's live UFC event and with TNA President Dixie Carter in attendance, Hulk Hogan made the huge announcement! TNA will go head-to-head with RAW that night!"
Definitely a one-time special, although I'm sure they're going to look at it as "testing the waters." For better or worse. Interesting times, interesting times.

I read somewhere -- but I can't find it now, so, grain of salt -- that Rock's going to be doing publicity for The Tooth Fairy around that time, so they may have to wait March for him to host. I think TNA's announcement will affect who they get as host for that night, though -- if they do have a chance for the Rock, that's sure what I'd do.

Last 5 movies seen: The Fountain ** - Gigantic *** - The Heartbreak Kid (1972) **1/2 - Gomorrah ***1/2 - Wendy and Lucy ***1/2
They don't need The Rock! They have John Cena! And DX! Therefore it will probably be John Cena vs. Triple H in some kind of gimmick or stip match with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee! And the sad thing about all of this is: It will be enough to keep TNA and the Oldster down!
Yes, I'm back! I know, I said I would never ever watch that crap again, but ... I just can't live without it, I guess.

Everyone says they are nuts, but do you know how many people are going to switch over during another Hornswaggle/Chavo segment or twenty minute gabfest in the middle of the ring? Now if they switch over and see Kevin Nash walking around a ring throwing up half assed boots then it might be a different story.

If they plan this right, which TNA has botched a lot, or I think they'd be in a better position after being around quite than they are right now, since the beginning. They are going to have to give the program some substance to even hang with the E. All given it could be a wash but it is 3hr show and if they promote it enough it may draw. Though I agree with BidDaddyLoco here. If the casual fan changes the channel and see Nash on there with, "half assed boots", they'll probably stick with the E. If they can plan it to some of there fresher talent that people don't know about on there then we might see something. That's my take on it.
This will force WWE to step up its game, even if only a little. The competition, no matter how small, will be good for them.
I don't know how TNA will come off from this, but it will certainly make interesting viewing from a fan's standpoint. I think TNA is picking up a lot of steam here in the UK. TNA has Impact on free TV (9pm Fridays, Virgin1) which WWE doesn't.
The kids at the school where I teach talk about TNA just as much as WWE these days.
WWE would counterprogram too though. They'll do their own 3-hour, tri-branded show minus the Hornswoggle/Chavo segments and giving away Triple H/Batista or something like that. Austin has said he doesn't want to guest host so if they can't get him or Rock, they might just have to play the Adamle card.
For one week, TNA could shake Raw out of "guest host hosts-Santino misprounounces the guest host's name;Chavo doesn't like the guest host;Hornswoggle farts on Chavo;Jericho wants respect from the guest host;DX poses with the guest host;Bellas dance with the guest host." But then the very next week they could go back to that. TNA must run Mondays and get creamed just to put a stop to the guest host.

How does taping a show by DVR while watching a show live factor into the ratings?
DVR usage is factored in based on when you decide to watch it. Some advertisers believe in live only ratings. In January Nielsen is going to start having Live + Same Day ratings in local markets, which some advertisers like. This means if you watch it on DVR the same day it airs (e.g. start watching a half hour in so you can skip crappy parts) you'll be counted. Nielsen also a Live + 3 rating (which programmers like, but advertisers haven't been so keen on), which is anyone who watches the program within 3 days of when it airs, and Live + 7 rating, which is people who watch the program within a week of when it airs.
I would probably say if you're not watching it the same day, then you're not really helping with the advertising rate, which is the whole reason ratings matter.
If they can't get Austin or Rock, redebuting Booker in the guest host slot would be a nice two-finger salute to TNA.
Impact's gonna get creamed, by the way. And if it somehow manages a decent rating, we get the all-Hogan show from that point on. It's a lose-lose situation.

Fresh! Foley's turned what, four times since he joined TNA? Five?

Wouldn't guest-hosting Monday Night Raw be considered part of that "doing publicity for The Tooth Fairy"?

Giving TNA the undeserved benefit of the doubt, maybe they're keeping him purposefully tweenerish/wildly swinging between face and heel because they know debuting Hogan as a face isn't gonna work for long seeing as the crowd have been starting 'Screw Hogan' chants about 2 months in advance of him even bein there. I wish I could believe what I'm typing.
I believe what you are typing, because after month of Hogan's antics, the Impactzone will be bored to death with him. Its like the Bingo Hall just less blood craving and wrestling smart. Foley seems to be a guy who wants to put everyone over regardless of those people being heel or face. It does make sense to have him paranoid about Hogan considering his past with WCW.
The only problem is Randy Orton doesn't seem to be involved in a feud. All he does is make the save for HHH. Get him into a good feud with someone, but not with Tommy Dreamer or Spike Dudley (i mean come on, in WWE, there not going to move anywhere)
