| #1 Posted on 15.10.03 2200.11 | Instant Rating: 6.37 | I hadn't seen anyone else post on this yet, so figured here was as good a place as any to do so:
- I think they're using Shane Douglas just about perfectly right now. The man has a hell of a mouth on him, and that's what he should stick with: talking. I'm intrigued to see where this goes next. - Having never seen Michael Shane in action before, all I can say is "ehhhh". Maybe he was overshadowed by Daniels or something, but I wasn't all that impressed. - The Hogan footage was interesting, as was the 'American Made' theme song making its *delightful* return to the national scene. It was very WCW-ish, in fact, the whole vignette. But at least it got people talking. And how the hell was Hogan cut open THAT MUCH by a friggin guitar shot? I mean, come on... - Jarrett's promo and beatdown of Russo was insanely long, especially considering he didn't seem to have a point per se. Either hype your match with Hogan or don't. One or the other... please. - Kevin Northcutt looks like he could play Test's younger brother or something. That's all I have to say about him. - Eric Young and Sonjay Dutt are just AWESOME and really were the sole bright spot on the show. I don't think I've ever seen the double DVD Young pulled off, nor have I seen about half of Dutt's moves. Would love to see more of each of them. - Roadkill and Doring was a nice little surprise, but other than a couple of spots, I didn't really see that as a necessary match. But hey, at least they're going to the exact same match next week! - Note to Abyss: Kane called. He wants his gimmick back. - Vampiro has lost a lot since I've last seen him (WCW days). Still, the tag match was a decent little brawl. - Can't believe they ended the show with a phone call. That's even worse than the Guerrero-Show sewage truck main event!
I don't watch TNA a lot -- this is probably the fifth or sixth show I've ordered -- and it's hit or miss. Apart from the X Division tag match, this was a miss all the way. Still, I'll probably talk myself in to ordering the Nov. 30 show, just because I'm a moron...

Sonjay is just beyond belief. I just started another thread saying that, but...I can't help it, those moves shouldn't be physically possible!

The point, I'm hoping, is the removal of Russo from my TV for a while. If that is the point, then it HAS to be a long beatdown, since nothing else would put a stud like Russo away for long!
I wasn't excited by most of the wrestling tonight, either. I'll say that I have seen Michael Shane better than this, but I don't think he's as good as Daniels or Sabin, for instance.
Also, I was really hoping I'd seen the last of the Harris Boys.

Well, it looks to be the point indeed.

| #6 Posted on 16.10.03 0235.48 | Instant Rating: 5.14 | I was pleasantly surprised with tonight's TNA.
I never heard of Sonjay Dutt before tonight, but MAN did this guy ever make a name for himself tonight. Those moves were absolutely INSANE! He's got "X Division" written all over him and exposure will be a must! If TNA's smart, they'll give him plenty of it on the Nov. 30 show.
YES! YES! YES!!! Thank you, TNA, for reuniting Doring & Roadkill! It was great to see these two back and why nobody noticed them before tonight is still a completely mystery to me. This is a great boost for TNA's tag ranks, as it gives Simon & Swinger another established tag team other than AMW to feud with.
Abyss as a face is going to flop, I can feel it. This guy's got monster heel written all over him and some of the matchups could come out really awkward. I mean, would YOU pay to see Abyss (face) feud with AJ Styles (heel)? Call me old fashioned, but I feel like gigantic monsters are meant to be heels.
Michael Shane's building himself up nicely as a cocky bastard. A triple threat match next week's going to be worth the price of admission.
Nice way to write out Russo, but I seriously wonder if turfing him from the promotion in favor of Hogan will really work in the long run. Undeniably, Russo's presence on-screen was unwanted, but he's still a force behind the scenes (as long as he's kept on somewhat of a leash). The creative changes in TNA should become evident over the next couple of weeks.
Nothing else really to note this week. Oh yeah, some guy named Hogan was mentioned. Almost forgot about that one.

Then I hear rumors about how many people in the business can't stand each other, and I wonder if they are just portraying life as they know it. I don't know much about Vinnie Ru. Every time I've seen him onscreen he's been plastered. And therefore amusing.

Oh, dear God please no.
I shudder to think of the gimmicks WWE would force on him as he's jobbing to O'Haire on Velocity.

Yes, it looks like I'm one of the few who recognized Sonjay Dutt. BOW DOWN TO MY WISDOM! Anyway, I don't usually see Double J snap too often, so I have to admit he does it well. I'm still a little unsure about Hogan, but that's only because I'm not used to seeing him in the NWA at all (not counting WCW). All in all not a bad show last night.
By the way, "bastard" is too harsh a term for Michael Shane. He's just an opportunist, and opportunists need love too. As far as the Kevin Northcutt-Test thing goes, at least Kevin can be intentionally funny, Mwahahahaha.....

If that's the case, good foresight on your part. I could definitely see him as the next big indy superstar. Some incredibly fluid moves last night, and I like that it wasn't just spot - spot - spot, etc.

Apologies on the snarkiness - but NOTHING he posts can be taken as fact.

A wrestler who refuses an offer, though, might be pushed with more confidence, because TNA knows that wrestler won't abandon them.

Give him a chance I've seen him do some pretty good stuff. I've only seen SOnjay Dutt once and it was pretty horrible so you can't judge anybody by one appearance.
I'm also enjoying Shane in his current role. Any idea who his next franchise will be?
