I actually got the PPV last night, first time seeing any of their work. I'm a huge, huge, Sting mark, so I had to get it.
Sting looked good, didn't do much (then again he could sit in a chair for two hours and I'd buy it), but looked good anyway. Sean Waltman was back as well, wearing street clothes it looked like, and scruffy.
Now I don't claim to understand their belts or their divisions or whatever, but a few wrestlers stood out from the rest.
One was Paul London who did a shooting star press off the apron!!! He got a very well earned "holy shit" chant from the crowd. As per, Dave Meltzer @ WrestlingObserver.com, London is going to wrestle Matt Hardy on Velocity as Paul Logan. If you get a chance, check him out, he's interestin to watch.
Another guy that stood out was a fellow named Suzuki (forgive if I totally botched the spelling) from a Japanese Wrestling Organization, I think, and don't quote me on this, New Japan Wrestling. Anyway, the guy was a freakin monster and for his size, a damn good wrestler.
Oh, and the eye candy, man, I really, really, understand the benefits of pushing the younger talent! Hard bodies everywhere (for the most part) and this tag team, America's Most Wanted, good lord, beautiful. Especially the big one, Chris Harris - unbelievable. Then, these guys announced a cage match with their opponents (Triple X) who they always lose to for next week! I'm so hooked...
I got an NWA-TNA show several weeks ago, & in-deeeed, Paul Logan was one of the guys I noticed too. His match with Matt on Velocity turned out really well. Little bit awkward at first, but got over that, & ended up with a very strong performance.
I'm trying to think if there was anybody else in the show I saw who really stood out. (Other than Raven, of course. :-) ) I don't think I had America's Most Wanted on my show -- sounds like I missed out on something! There were some guys that seemed to have some potential & skills, although I noticed that there wasn't really anybody (other than Raven) who I was really drawn to or compelled to watch.
By the way, I imagine Raven is having sooo much more fun over there, than he was in the E! He was all over the place in the show I saw. :-)
It kinda sounds like their shows are pretty much a crapshoot, whether you'll get your money's worth or not, but I suppose I'll have to give in & order another one.
On the occasion of my birthday, I’d like to take the opportunity to declare these few things about the WWE, without guilt or fear of condemnation on our wonderful message board here. Here goes: -I enjoy and miss Matt Hardy.
