To whoever added the EMLL logo, thanks. That rules. There is nothing on the internet I hate more than smilies (well I guess I hate smilies saying "I'd hit it" more than anything else). But I really love icons.
The Abyss vs. AJ Styles match was fun with a bunch of neat spots. Abyss has a shitty shitty neckvice. And the early AJ is elusive bits were bad. I mean The Rey is elusive stuff involved Henry working at his normal speed and Rey speeding up. AJ is elusive was about Aj working at normal speed and Abyss theatrically slowing down. But a bunch of nice spots and liked the stand on shoulders into hurricarana. Fun collection of spots and exchanges.
Dug some of the sports entertainment this week. Again the Steiner squash wasnít him beating up four guys as Diamonds in Rough just took off and so you had AMW and Steiner beating on Smiley/SharkBoy three on two. I would have preferred to see Diamonds get some shots in too. But still. Oh yeah the whole Scott Steiner doesnít have a contract and doesnít work here angle is stupid. The Bullet vs. Konan arm wrestling match with Hotstuff Hernandez hitting Bullet with the slapjack was fun. Bullet kind of shouldnít be wearing Gym shirt. He should be in a trad wife beater. Although the gym shirt did show off his abs. And well if I were a booker Iíd team Hotstuff with Tully Blanchard and not Konan. And while I donít get the Puerto Rican stable bringing in a Mexican, this was nice way to intro Hotstuff to LAX angle and explain why you should have Konan and Bob in a cage where no one can interfere.
They actually delivered a good X Division three way. I mean yeah so week after week they go and give me shitty X division three ways and finally do one semi right. Shelley and Strong have both already lost team USA qualifying matches. But Iíve complained about the booking of the qualifying matches having the same guys in them already. The bookers are idiots who canít put together a tourney properly. Itís a known. But match was really good. All three guys are really good workers and essentially they worked the match as a long face in a tag match. Stevens fought off double teams at points and whenever momentum was going his way the second heel would cut off his momentum. It was really good. Early part where Chase is pulled off the ropes into backbreaker leading to long beatdown and kick out section eventually mirrored with the Strong tries to pull Chase off ropes only for Chase to land on his feet and mount a comeback section. The one problem with the match really was the finish. Shelley gets the win hitting Strong with the sliced bread out of nowhere. And well it really felt out of nowhereÖas really out of place and abrupt. Both matches had lame endings on tonights show and TNA really needs to bring in Dick Slater or Panico to teach them how to do emotionally satisfying shmozz finishes.
WHAT DIDNíT WORK:
The new James Gang theme song is awful. ďThe James Gang in townĒ voiced like its Pretty Ricky talking about his Chevy? How is that good entrance music for Bullet Bob and co? Couldnít they get someone to do a fake Drive By Truckers sound? ďIf I was a Fuller, Iíd have put him away. And Iíll fight till the last Armstrongís last living day. Iíll fight till the last Armstrongís last living day."
Donít tease Simon Diamond in the commentary booth and not deliver it. They delivered Daniels last week. Why couldnít have they just teased that?
BI-WEEKLY JEREMY BORASH TANNING WATCH ALERT: J B is now carrot orange. Well maybe closer to the color of the Oompah Loompahís in Gene Wilderís Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Watching him bug out his eyes (which is how he sold the entire Dudley promo) he really looked like Ted Turner had colorized The Jazz Singer. An orange minstrel singing Mamie.
Oh yeah an anthem match is the kind of thing you do for a house show pop. Bubba is normally good on the mic. But that was some shitty Bubba mic work, even if the match had a good stip that mic work was lame. Stone Cold John Austin at your local firehouse indy lame. Well this was a weak week for mic work. The promo for the Christian match also kind of fell off for me. Christian is so mad he comes out with a tire iron in his faded jeans and T-shirt and didnít really do angry guy particularly well. And Good GAWD. Someone stop the Slick Johnson angle. Itís making me long for the days of Jackie Gayda backstage acting. Sting was never really known for his mic work. And well him going long was just him going long and just meandering on the mic. He gets a nice live pop but probably should be kept to pre-recorded mic bits. And is someone new doing Stingís face make up? He really looked like a cross between Jigsaw from the Saw series and some sort of French Panto character. I donít know how smart it is to run Joe vs. Sabu and Christian vs. Abyss on same show as really feel like theyíll kind of cancel each other out. But still on paper this is pretty nice show. None of the mic work made me want to see any of the matches on it. Thatís a problem.

If you see a guy with longish hair holding one of these signs tonight at No Mercy, it is SO me (if it's a gal, it's my sister): "[Upside down WWE Logo] MATTITUDE" "BRING BACK GANGREL" "GENERIC SHOUT-OUT SIGN:
