Lockdown

1. Six Sides of Steel: Bram and Eric Young v. Beer Money (James Storm and Bobby Roode w/ the Boozercruiser)
Storm’s Boozercruiser has a camera on it. Fun vantage point from it.
Winners: Beer Money

Ethan/Spud bromance segment. Reminiscing on a year ago about the talk Ethan gave about how awesome a competitor Spud was, at the end of their blood feud. Spud is still not quite ready to forgive Ethan for what an ass he was… but he seems to be on the path to forgiveness.
Matthew/Tyrus/Reby assert that they plan on retaining tonight.

British Guy intends to win back the heart of Rosemary.

2. Six Sides of Steel: X-Division Championship: Tigre Uno v. Trevor Lee © (w/ G.S. Helms)
Winner: Trevor Lee, cleanly

British Guy wears a shirt saying Die Havoc Die. Further evidence to me that Rosemary really is a clone of Havok. (Who in turn was a clone of Daffney.)

Maria blathers on, so Gail challenges her… to be her partner! Madison Rayne was taken out backstage earlier in the night, so Kim and Sky need a new partner.

3. Lethal Lockdown: The Dollhouse (Rebel, Marti Bell, and Jade) v. Velvet Sky, Gail Kim, and ???
Entrance order: Jade, Gail Kim, Marti Bell, Velvet Sky, Rebel, and… NOPE.
Maria ran out dressed to compete, but then locked the door rather than enter.
The announcers were on their a-game during the match. Accurately guessing who the next entrants were going to be, constantly ragging on the likelihood that Maria would actually wrestle, and remembering that Gail has singlehandedly taken out the Dollhouse lots of times. Jade kendosticked Kim, and cradlepiledrove her onto a steel chair.
Winner: The Dollhouse!?

The Lethal Lockdown didn’t have its normal roof, but it did have weapons. Also, as Moore at prowrestling.net noted, this year the cage didn’t have large holes for camera shots. Getting rid of the holes was a good improvement.

EC3 runs into Kurt Angle backstage. Angle told Ethan that since he’s about to retire, now Ethan’s the Man. I’m sure somewhere up in the Rafters, Sting is smiling down on their passing of the torch.

Decay promo airs.

Angle talks about how proud he is, as an American Hero, to retire in the United Kingdom. He reminisces about winning his final world title last year in the UK against Lashley. That brings out Bobby Lashley, in a very heelish Columbia puffy vest. (Unlike Roode, who wears a babyface North Face jacket.) Lashley is all pissed at Angle not getting his fire back. Lashley wants to fight the Best Angle, not Retiring Veteran Angle.

4. Six Sides of Steel: Odarg the Great v. Eli Drake (w/ “The Man” Jesse Godderz)
Eli Drake cuts a promo on how he won the KOTM FoF shot, whereas Grado won the Fired FoF shot, therefore, why isn’t Grado fired rather than being allowed to dress up as Odarg. Josh points out that Odarg is Grado spelled backwards. Jesse tries to help Eli, but Mahabali Shera runs out to take him out. Eli Drake winds up with his trunks pulled down for half of the match. Ultimately Drake and Odarg fight on the top of the cage. Odarg falls to victory, but before he fell, Drake had grabbed his mask.
Winner: Odarg the Grado. Odarg tries to hide his face again.

Decay attacks British Guy backstage. British guy is named Havoc. The plot thickens.

Grado begs Music Commissioner Guy to let him stay. Drake points out Grado was fired. Music Commissioner Guy has the elderly Harris Brothers kick Grado out.

Mike Bennett promo. He faces the Detective next week.

5. Six Sides of Steel: World Heavyweight Championship: Ethan Carter III (w/ an arena singing his song) v. MATTHEW HARDY © (w/ Tyrus)
After an intense brawl, EC3 has Hardy down. When he opens the door to leave the cage, Tyrus stands in the way. He then enters and brawls with Ethan until Tyrus winds up having his own handcuffs used on himself. EC3 again tries to leave the cage, only for Reby to run out with The Sabin Hammer. Rockstar Spud makes the save and tosses the hammer away. And then slams the cage door on Ethan’s head. And then smashes Ethan’s head between the steel steps and a steel chair. That was pretty cold blooded.

Winner: and STILL world heavyweight champion (via Spud's heel turn, and escaping the cage), MATTHEW HARDY.

I’m sad that we won’t get more Ethan/Spud bromance, but to be fair, it wasn’t as if Ethan’s done anything worthy of making Spud forgive him for his antics over the past couple of years.

We're left wondering--can Ethan find any allies? Or is he doomed to remain in the shadows of his past ill deeds.

It's too bad nobody tuned into this, because it was a solid show. Unspectacular but solid which is the problem because it's so easy to forget about. TNA has hit a nice little groove, but it still feels like a bunch of empty gestures.

The Decay may be the most interesting thing they've got going and it's amazing they made Crazzy Steve and broken down Abyss interesting by simply adding Rosemary. She is a real gem though and the whole Decay thing is something WWE has shown time and again they don't get and just can't do.

I am enjoying Michael Bennett and Maria. I'm not positive Bennett can carry this all the way through, but they're off to a real good start.

Matt Hardy looks so weird with the new hair and he kind of just stumbles around now and EC3 looks juiced out of his gord, but they're working a nice program and the addition of Spud is a plus. I have no idea why they were selling Spud's attack as anything other than justified, but their announcing sucks so whatever.

Why was Billy Corgan so bundled up backstage? Is TNA not paying for heat?

Something about R-Truth just bugs me. Even when he was K-Kwik. Maybe it's the idiotic names, but I just do not like the guy. Morrison's too good for him.
