I found this week's show boring overall. The week before that was fun, although not as Knockout-centric as it needed to be given its promotion as a Knockouts show.

On 4/24 ("tKO"),

1. Brooke Tessmacher defeated Gail Kim, Angelina Love, and Madison Rayne to become the number one contender.
2. Some guy from some ex-WWE guy's group beat Kenny King
3. Laura "Cherry Bomb" Dennis (a Knockouts jobber) defeated the debuting Jade by DQ when Jade's partner in the dollhouse (Marti Bell) attacked Laura.
4. Davey Richards (of the on-hiatus Wolves) defeated Manik.
5. Taryn Terrell (c) defeated Awesome Kong to retain the Knockouts Title via heelturn when the Dollhouse put Kong through a table.

The main event was supposed to be Angle v. Eric Young for the TNA title. Angle had managed to convince Eric to turn face, and fight him in an honorable battle. Austin Aries wanted attention, so he demanded that Young's match be canceled, so that he could cash in his FoF titleshot instead. Understandably, this lead to Young returning to the darkside and piledriving Austin before the match could occur.

I like the concept of Taryn leading the Dollhouse. Taryn has spent months frustrated by the thought that she can't beat Kong, so a heelturn to do so was nice character progression.

The Dollhouse also beatdown Christy Hemme after their match with Cherry Bomb. Christy presumably wished that she was still dating Samuel Shaw, since Shaw would have never let the Dollhouse do something like that to her.

--

This past week on 5/1,

1. The Hardyz and Davey Richards defeated their Revolution rivals (Abyss, Manik, and Khoya).
2. Kenny King defeated Mark Andrews, Tigre Uno, and Rockstar Spud (c) in a ladder match to become the new X-Division Champion, thanks to an assist by his Beatdown Clan ally Homicide.
3. Taryn Terrell (c) defeated Brooke to retain the Knockouts Title after interference from the Dollhouse. This set up Dollhouse v. Kim/Kong for next week.
4. Drew from the Three Man Band defeated Low Ki in a Pipe on a Pole Match after the pipe fell to the ring and no one hit anyone with it.
5. Eric Young defeated Kurt Angle in a non-title stretcher match to set up a title bout between them for this upcoming week.

In other news, Al Snow has replaced Taz as the color commentator, Mr. Anderson has promised to end ECIII's streak, and James Storm is either a nice guy or is trying to recruit Mickie James into the Revolution. Magnus is upset.

According to the TNA Website, Havok is still on the roster, even though she hasn't been used lately. I'd hoped that she would have returned on the Knockouts themed show. She hasn't made an appearance since her match with Kong months ago. At the end of that match one of the announcers implied that she would never be heard from again.

Also on the Website Roster is King Mo who was last seen in the Summer as part of Dixieland. The Menagerie are there too, aside from The Freak, who presumably returned to the carnival. I don't recall when the rest of them last appeared. Rebel also should have been on the Knockouts show. Samuel Shaw(!!!) is still there, though he hasn't been prominant since last November. His girlfriend Brittany quit the company mid-angle, which hurt his momentum. Shockingly, Garrett Bischoff was finally taken down from the website, after a over a year of him being inactive. Garrett is not listed in the alumni section either.

Taryn Terrell has now broken Gail Kim's record setting reign as Knockouts Champion (210 days) by holding the title for 228 days so far. There are a couple of asterisks on the new record, however. First, the title was inactive between September and January due to TNA's temporary shutdown. Second, Taryn's title win was not televised until November, so only 167 days have transpired since then.

Giving an Asian-American woman wrestler the ring name "Jade" in 2015? That's...not good. I would say "sounds like something David McLane would do" except that it's actually something David McLane DID do 30 years ago.

What's wrong with Jade? It's not like there's no one named Jade in real life. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jade_(given_name)
Hell, it was the 117th most popular name in the US in 2007. Jade could easily enough be her actual name.

I didn't see the Knockouts special unfortunately. I did rather enjoy Hardcore Justice, though there was no blood in any of the matches. One even featured Abyss. Though I don't mind if he leaves Janice at home, murder weapons are a bit too hardcore and totally break the suspension of disbelief. It would've been nice if the commentators had remembered to mention that Jeff (as Willow) actually was part of a team for awhile with Abyss, but ah well.

Also, DON'T PUT A WEAPON ON A POLE IF NOBODY IS GOING TO USE IT. Kinda makes it pointless. It'd be easier to just make it a hardcore match and bring all the metal pipes you want.

For the life of me I'll never understand what TNA sees in Eric Young. He has never gotten over as a serious singles wrestler and TNA has tried so many times to make him a top guy. I mean three different booking teams have tried, what will it take for them to give up? Young will wrestle Angle tomorrow for the title with a special ref, who is a former world champ not in the company. I guess TNA wants fans to think it'll be Styles, but I don't see it. Dixie is promising surprises so prepare to be underwhelmed.

Why is EC3 not the world champion or at least not feuding with the champ and instead feuding with the always awful Mr. Anderson? EC3 has every tool to be the top guy, I'll never understand why the WWE let him go. No surprise, but Spud has kind of gotten lost in the shuffle without him.

Jeff Hardy is hurt now so the Hardys like The Wolves before them will likely give up the titles, the tag titles are cursed I tells ya. Please don't give the titles to the Revolution. I would love to see Low Ki and Homicide get the titles, but I read that Homicide needs shoulder surgery. Too bad if true.

Al Snow is a worse announcer than Taz somehow, I can't believe I'm saying this, but bring back Tenay. On second thought bring back West.

Not a fan of Taryn as a heel because she works better as a underdog face and Kong as a monster heel.

It could be her given name. If they called her Jade Lee or Jade Xi or Jade Patterson, I'd be fine with that. But "Jade" by itself just screams "Generic Asian Woman!" Especially when her partner gets a last name. And, again, it was actually the name of the generic Asian jobber in GLOW.

"Jade" is a bad name because it's the same name as a jobber from a promotion that closed up shop in 92.

Really.

#jadefacts: a WOW Asian jobber was also named Jade. David McLane was not a font of ideas.

(guessing this time it might actually just be a reference to the Mortal Kombat character of the same name, and that's why no last name.)

No, it's just that it's SUCH a "generic Asian name" that it's been a go-to "generic Asian name" since '92 at least.

I don't think it's offensive, just lazy, especially since they got as far as the first name and went "eh, good enough. Time for lunch."

Or they named her AT lunch. Maybe she's lucky she's not named "Jade Dragon" or "Jade Palace."

....now that I think about it, there was a time when this fed decided Gail Kim's finisher should be called "The Happy Ending".

So it is possible they went the lazy/offensive route.

Yes, lack of continuity is certainly new to wrestling. Oh, come on. There's a difference between "lack of continuity" in a wrestling show and completely ignoring the hottest feud of the last year.
