- Michael Shane along with Tracey vs Chris Sabin vs Miyamoto vs Primetime vs Kazarian vs Hector Garza in six-way fun. Two men start the match while the others wait outside for a tag. Only a ten minute time limit for this thing. Prime time blows somekind of top-rope move and crotches the holy hell out of himself. Tenay covers, but I don't think that's how it was suppossed to go down. The match gets all shmozzy four minutes in and guys start to crash and burn. Miyomoto sprays RED mist. Hector Garza hits his flippy thing on Miyamota and hits his legs, but gets the fall anyway at five twenty-two. This match started out nicely and would have been a nice start to a thirty minute flipathon, but it is what it is and we get what we get.

- The Naturals are out and they have stolen AMW's 'Indy looking' ring gear. AMW jump them on the way to the ring and want their gear back. "Heavy D" Don Harris is there to break it up. Holyshit SABU is on my television for free once more. I never thought I see that happen again. His partner is Sonjay Dutt. Dutt slams the Naturals on their head with two hurricanranas. It's been a long time since I've seen a 'rana look painful. The Naturals work over Dutt and Sabu is outside and he wants a piece and the fans want him to get a piece. Sabu gets the tag and works over both Naturals. He then does some of his tamer spots and hits some and blows some. Dutt gets caught and gets the Natural Disaster which is a dangerous looking move if mis-timed. The Naturals decide they want some more of Sabu. Sabu ends that plan as quickly as it started. Match was about five minutes long.

- Popeye kicks it with Sharkboy in the theme park.

- D-Ray 3000 is out and he looks like some fool they pulled out of the theme park. He faces Abyss with Goldylocks. D-Ray 3000 looks like he could be one of the great jobbers of all time. He just looks like a total chump. Abyss wins in about a minute twenty.

- Mr. Agulia vs AJ Styles. Jesus, Aguila has gotten fat. He wears a shirt in the ring now. Nothing has happened of note, but we are taking a commercial break less than three minutes in anyway. We're back they showed us what we missed, which looks like nothing. Styles hits a nice move called the Cliff Hanger which looks better than the Styles Clash which he hits to end it at about eight minutes. Kash and Dallas attack but D'Lo makes the save! D'Lo wants a World Heavyweight Title shot.

- Eric Young with Scott D'Amore vs Ron Killings with Konnan and BJ James. Dusty is on commentary. Jerry Lynn comes down and chases out D'Amore. Killings has become the poorman's Booker T with all the dancing and leg kicks. Match wasn't much but I enjoy hearing Dusty on commentary although I wish he would have said 'clubbered' at least once. Out comes Double J. Jarrett walks up to Dusty at the announcers table. Dusty tells him that he doesn't want none of this, but he gets clobbered with a guitar shot which makes me laugh for some reason and JJ also takes out Killings for good measure. What show would be complete without Russo. Russo is horrid as a face boss and he rambles on and on about stuff. Jarrett fucks up the Truth some more and the shows all over.

I kinda dug the start of the show, but I felt myself losing intrest after about twenty minutes in. Better than last weeks show, but I still feel that they can do more with it. Still no Raven which is kind of a surprise to me seeing he is probably the wrestler with the biggest following on the roster. I kind of feel as if this show was a tweener, but I'll be nice and say I like it making TNA's record with me 2-1 thus far.

The thing with the show is that it's ALL wrestling. That's fine, but it really doesn't get people interested enough to shill out 10 bucks for the PPVs. They need to try and get over the storylines. Raven has a nice little thing going right now. So how come he hasn't cut a promo on this show yet?

Personally, I love how they're focusing it on the wrestling. But they need to let more guys talk to get their programs over as well.

I agree that there should be more storyline advancement, but they only have an hour for the show. Maybe their mindset is to try and lure people in with the actual wrestling and not some boring 20 minute promo.

Oh, I don't mean the 20-minute promos. I just meant that they could have more backstage interviews. Why not have Raven cut a 2-minute promo on why he hates Sabu? Why not have X-Divison guys tell us why they dislike each other? The ONLY guy who has really gotten any time to get over his storylines on the show is Jeff Jarrett. Other than that, the viewers have not been allowed to know what is going on.

Plus, they do have a limited time (one hour) for their show. But, they don't need to cram 5 matches or so in there like they've been trying. Cut out one of those matches and give it to guys to get their programs over.

Really, I LOVE all the wrestling on the show. But just wrestling isn't going to sell the PPVs.

If they're gonna further their storylines (or create them!) then they need to be careful- it could turn tragic. There's this other wrestling show (Live Action something or other...), and the promos are so damn short they're stupid- they go something like this-

First Guy: "You're nothing, Im gonna kick your ass"
Second Guy: "Oh yeah? say that to my face!"

And then they start fighting. My point is, that in the short amount of time Impact has for a show, they have to use time for promos wisely. Having storylines will go a long way to attracting more of an audience- once they have this then they can think of expanding their show (creatively and how long it lasts.)

I said this in the other thread, but Xplosion is a ton more effective at advancing storylines. In addition to showcase (squash) matches, there are highlight packages, promos, and clips from the PPV. Unfortunately, not everyone has it. Truth be told, if you combined Impact and Xplosion, you'd have one helluva wrestling show.

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

Nice to finally see Sonjay Dutt (we don't get Xplosion and I haven't paid for the PPV since the one-cent one) in action... heard all kinds of stuff about him.

But I dunno, I like it how it is so far. Maybe it's because I wouldn't be buying the PPV's anyway, but packing it in with matches keeps me watching. Even if D-Ray 3000 is almost, but not quite, in the Pantheon of Poker Face.

I think the thing with it is more that it's "ALL wrestling" but it's "ALL short matches that don't really lend any insight as to how good some of these guys are." You can get a sense that AJ Styles is talented from what he's shown on here, but he can be very, very good and I don't know if that's coming across very well on this show.

You can't have 2-to-4 minute matches and expect people to get over with viewers who may not know who they are. You also probably can't expect them to pay $10 very often for something they get for free weekly. The difference between TNA and WWE PPV, obviously, is WWE PPV is the culmination of (usually) focused storylines that at least take up a couple of weeks on TV, whereas TNA PPV is $40 a month if you pay every week to basically just see an episode of Raw minus commercials.

In that regard, I'm not sure how well Impact is ...impacting the TNA PPV business, which is its sole purpose. This just isn't the TV show that's going to make them bigger than they are. I do think they have enough good talent to run two or three matches a week with some promos thrown in, but that's not the direction they're going.

As for the show this week, I thought it stunk, but this just really isn't what I'm looking for, this three minutes of dives and Jeff Jarrett hitting people with guitars over and over.

Sorry to get to the party late, but Fox Sports New York doesn't show Impact until Tuesday afternoon.

Anyway, I think there's a happy medium, as Omega suggests, where they can remain very wrestling-intense while giving us more reason to care. Let's be honest: with most Impact matches, you can't even tell WHO THE FACE IS! You don't need long promos or vignettes, but have one of the guys grab the mic before the match and give us two sentences which establish him as a face or a heel. Of course you can't do exactly that every match, but that's an example of how to make it work. Maybe some video as well, and the announcers can do a better job of telling the stories as well.

But I love the amount of wrestling that we get. I looked at my watch and was amazed that we still had a half-hour left, because so much had been packed in already. They've certainly got me as a loyal viewer, even with Vince Russo getting airtime.

And I hope Erin from OO saw the Trinity/Desire video package, because it was a perfect example of what she suggested in her column last week: treat the women as seriously as you would the men, if you want to get them over. I hope some people at Titan Tower saw it, too!

Does D-Ray 3000 get a tag team power called Bog Bii at some point? B^) I like the way they move....

I don't know. That's a scary thought either way, though I guess Flair would do it since he's done an "in drag" angle before. While we're at it, just imagine if they took another concept from the Piper-Goldust model...
