Oh, I think there was one more recent than that. Presented for consideration: June 20, 1992 - Sting vs. Cactus Jack Falls Count Anywhere match WCW Beach Blast, which for years was Mick Foley's favorite match.

If there's a more recent great Sting match, I sure as hell didn't see it or don't remember it.
Sting's series of matches with Vader in '93 were pretty damn great.

The Vader series is excellent. The best rivalry of Sting's career, and IMO it's not close. Vader-Sting blows Flair-Sting out of the water. He also had at least one very good match with DDP in '98 on Nitro. And, uh... well, that's about it, I think, and that was 13 years ago.

We've seen his song and dance in TNA. There's nothing left for him to do, and even if he went to the WWE his motivation would be suspect let alone wrestling in front of a theme park crowd in the same building every week.

He hasn't been in Titanland. Even if his matches wouldn't be great (we weren't expecting a whole hell of a lot) he's the last big dog from WCW to never appear. It might be too late and the interest might be purely based on the novelty (like if Huey Lewis and Billy Corgan made a rap album together backed by the Talking Heads and They Might Be Giants) alone, that's what we want to see. Sting (more Neon Sting than Crow Sting) throwing down in WWE.

    To reiterate:

The majority of us don't care about Sting unless he's in the WWE. Period.

I think that applies to anyone not in WWE. The WWE fanboy mentality is if they are not in TNA they must suck or if they leave WWE, they are morons. The moment, they come back they are great again see Booker and Nash returning at the Rumble. Same could be said about Rock as well.

Sting had great matches in TNA with Kurt, Christian, Joe and AJ. Sting was sabotaged day one as soon as he became in WCW. Rock has had more quality matches then half to 3/4 of the current roster.

Yeah, Sting couldn't even have a halfway decent match with freakin' CHRIS BENOIT in the fall of 1999, so I don't exactly hold much hope for him reaching Flair vs. Steamboat levels ever again.

But yes... I would like to see Sting in WWE, just for the novelty of seeing what they can do with him. (Surely there's someone in the company who can make him look like a million bucks). And for the delight in seeing multiple Sting DVD box sets.

But I have no interest in seeing him in TNA, firstly because he's been there for years, and secondly because the time they spend pushing him could be put to better use pushing some of their homegrown talent.

Having a PPV crowd reacted the pop for a returning Diesel (not Kevin Nash) and pop for Booker T, who have always been a fan favorite is far differently than a Guy the WWE has never featured, and half the audience doesn't know.

Could Christian or Rey make him look good? Serviceable perhaps but I think GOOD is almost out of view in his career rear view mirror.

Never saw it, but I thought Kurt Angle and Sting had the full Kurt Angle match at a Bound For Glory a few years ago that was considered the last really good Sting match, even if Kurt did all the heavy lifting. He's been a slug ever since he became the Crow, pretty much, but supposedly there was that one year in TNA, 07 or 08, where he was feeling good physically and doing more than usual. Sting is physically shot now though. He has one arm. Can't throw Ric Flair off the top with one arm.

Wasn't there a promo where Flair took the top rope bump without even having an opponent? Didn't a broomstick once throw Flair off the top rope?

Is this not the greatest creation since sliced bread and/or Hurricane's titantron? I mean, we have all of Vince's best faces neatly wrapped up in a thirty second entrance.
